In the name of God, amen, I John Fehr of Bushkill Township in the County of Northhampton, Being sick and weak in body but of sound mind, memory and understanding (Praise God for it) and considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof, and to the end I may be the better prepared to leave this world, whenever it Shall Please God to Call me hence, so therefore make and declare this my last Will and Testament in Manner following (that is to say) first and principally I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator hoping for free pardon and remission of all my sins, and to enjoy everlasting happiness in the heavenly kingdom through Jesus Christ my Saviour; my body I commit to the earth at the discretion of my executors hereinafter named, and as to such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to entrust me, I dispose of the same as follows to wit. first I give and bequeath unto my Dear wife Eve as much of my household and kitchen furniture as She may choose for herself and one cow two hogs and after her death to be sold by my Executors herein after named and further I give and bequeath unto my said wife the one third of my Personal Estate and the Interest of the one third of my Real Estate Shall Remain charged on my farm whereon I now live and the Interest to be paid to her annually during her lifetime and is and immediately after her decease the Principal shall be paid to my Executors and Shall be divided to my Children namely Mary Bowman widow, Cathy Intermarried to John Wright, George Fehr John Fehr Elizabeth Intermarried to John Achenbach, Sarah Intermarried to Abram Ward, Eve Intermarried to John Yohe, Michael Fehr, Peter Fehr, Peggy Fehr, and Eliza Intermarried to Henry Mohn, Eleven Shares, Share and Share alike, and my Jacob has had his full Share in his lifetime so that his Children have no Share to get and after my decease I do order and direct that my Executors herein after named Shall appraise all my Personal Estate and Sell at Public venue all Except the goods which my said wife Shall keep for herself and my said Executors Shall as soon as conveniently may be Sell and dispose of all my lands to such Person or Persons and for such price or prices as may be reasonably gotten for the same and for that Purpose I do order and hereby authorize and empower my said Executors or the survivor of them to sign, seal, execute and acknowledge all such Deeds of conveyance as may be requisite and necessary for the granting and assuring of the same to the Purchaser or Purchasers thereof in fee Simple and the money arising from such Sale to be equal divided amongst my Eleven Children share and share alike of all the Personal and Real Estate and further I give unto my said wife grain or flower Sufficient for her for one year after my decease and all demands which I have against any of my Children Shall be charged and deducted from their Share, and whenever any money is paid to divide equal. And lastly I nominate consecrate and appoint my two sons Michael Fehr & George Fehr to be the Executors of this my will and this and no other to be my last will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the twenty fourth day of September one thousand eight hundred and thirty eight, John Fehr his mark (seal) Signed sealed and declared by the said testator as his last will and Testament in the Presence of us Lewis Micke, Jacob Culver Northhampton County Pa., on the 16th day of March A.D. 1839. before me Michael Meyers esquire register for the probate of wills and granting Letters of Administration in and for the county of northhampton personally came Lewis Micke, Esquire, one of the subscribing witnesses to the within will and being duly sworn according to law, did depose says, that he was present and saw and heard John Fehr the Testator, sign, seal, publish, pronounce and declare the foregoing instrument of writing as and for his testament and last will, and that at the time of doing so he was of perfect mind and sound mind, memory and understanding, to the best of his knowledge, observation and belief, and also saw Jacob Culver thereof the above witness to the said will at the same time and at the request of the said testator subscribe his name to the within will as a witness, Witness my hand M. Meyers Reg. Northampton county Pa. on the 16th day of March A.D. 1839 before me Michael Meyers, Esquire, register for the probate of wills, came Edward Culver, son of Jacob Culver one of the subscribing witnesses to the within will, being duly sworn according to law --- and says that his father was Jacob Culver one of the subscribing witnesses to the within will, is sick and unable to come to Easton at present, and that he is well acquainted with the hand writing of the said Jacob Culver, and that the signature of Jacob Culver as a witness to the within will is genuine to the best of his knowledge and belief, Witness my hand, M. Eliza Fehr Mohn was born June 7, 1805 in Northampton County, PA. She was the thirteenth child of John Fehr and Eva Rosina Geist of Bushkill, PA. Her grandfather, John (Johannes) Fehr was a blacksmith who saw military service with the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. About 1823, she married Henry Mohn, and they had 10 children, 8 of whom survived infancy, including Sylvester Mohn (born 1824), Henry S. Mohn (born 1826), Charles Mohn (born February, 1828), John J. Mohn (born 1836), Louisa Mohn, Julia Mohn (born 1839), Eleanora C. Mohn (born 1843), and Helen Mohn. With the onset of the Civil War, Sylvester Mohn, who married Rebecca Tombler, enlisted and served two tours of duty with the Second Pennsylvania Cavalry. He was wounded in the shoulder by shell shrapnel at the battle of Deep Bottom (in Virginia) and died in 1864 at a field hospital in Annapolis, MD. He was buried in Belfast Union Cemetery. Charles Mohn similarly enlisted and served with the Second Pennsylvania Cavalry, and he married Louisa Moyer. Henry S. Mohn, who also enlisted and served with the Second Pennsylvania Cavalry in the Civil War, married Anna Caroline Smith. John J. Mohn, who additionally enlisted and served two tours of duty with the Second Pennsylvania Cavalry, married Araminta Bishop. Louisa Mohn married Jackson Leibert. Julia Mohn married Dr. William Crawford of Nazareth, PA. Elenora (Ellen) Mohn married Francis Buchecker of Salisbury (Lehigh County), PA, and Helen Mohn married Josiah Moyer. After her husband Henry died in 1876, Eliza lived with her daughter, Eleanora, and son-in-law (Francis Buchecker) in Salisbury, PA. She died at the Buchecker home on September 22, 1890 at the age of 85 and was buried next to Henry in Belfast Union Cemetery.

David Achenbach and Judith Hayman were married February 28, 1833, at Orangeville, Pa. Mr. Achenbach was at the time engaged as distiller for Rickitts & Bro. at Orangeville for a number of years and then moved to Hayman?s mill near Rohrsburg and entered into partnership with James Hayman in the distilling business for several years. In 1839, or thereabout, he moved on a farm owned by his father, John Achenbach, and farmed for him until about the year 1859, when he bought the east half of the farm known as the Geo. Rutter farm and continued to farm the same place nearly 30 years, until his death. After which his widow lived on the same place until she was called home several years later. His family consisted of five sons and four daughters, of which six are living.

Mr. Achenbach died September 10, 1895, leaving his widow surviving him.

From: Sarah Jane Kline Houtz, Family Memorial of John Phillip Achenbach and Descendants in the United States.
The subject of this sketch, Isaiah Thomas Moore Achenbach, who died at his residence in Riverview Park, Washington, Kan., at 9:30 am, Friday, May 25, 1888, was born at Orangeville, Columbia County, Penn., July 22 1831, and was therefore 56 years 10 months and three days old at the time of his decease. He was baptized in infancy and had the advantage of Christian training and such educational facilities as the times afforded. His earlier years were passed without special incident and at twenty-two he married Miss Susanna Seidle. Death claimed her three months afterward and Mr. Achenbach shortly removed to Ohio, and from there to Indiana, where he engaged in the milling business near Union City, and two years after the death of his first wife he married in Ohio, Miss Louisa Bowersox, who survives him. Four children were born to them, all of whom are living. In 1867 Mr. Achenbach removed his family to Illinois and from there brought them to Kansas in 1869, locating on the splendid farm west of that city, where he has lived and labored to successfully build up a pleasant home, and where his family still reside. By his persevering energy, grit, thrift and fair dealing he prospered and rapidly became known as one of the most solid and substantial farmers and businessmen of the county. His sterling integrity and well known character for uprightness and honesty recommended his as the proper man to place in charge of the county finances. Mr. Achenbach, although a staunch Democrat, was accordingly put forward in 1874 and although the county was overwhelmingly Republican, he was triumphantly elected. He was again elected in 1867 as a further mark of the people?s confidence and a reward for his faithful and honest performance of his duty. After his retirement from office he again turned his attention to farming and stock raising, doing much in the last named industry to advance and improve that branch by his liberal expenditure of money in the introduction of blooded cattle. He always managed his own affairs well and successfully and found time and gave generously toward every worthy project calculated to benefit and advance the interests of his town and county. His enterprise, good, sound, common sense, judgement and liberal financial support were eagerly sought and promptly and cheerfully given to every plausible scheme for public improvement and progress. His vigorous and enthusiastic faith in Washington placed him in the front rank of energetic workers for her prosperity and we but voice the heartfelt sentiment of all when we say that his loss is not his family?s alone, but the entire community?s. He lived respected, honored and beloved by all and died in the joyous hope of glorious immortality. The funeral, which took place Sunday, was under Mason auspices, after the sermon by Rev. Hageman at the residence, and was the most largely attended that ever took place in Washington, thus betokening the universal esteem in which he was held by all.

H. R. ACHENBACH, R. R. Agent and Postmaster, Farmington; one of the most genial and popular gentlemen on the line of the Central Branch. He is a native of Pennsylvania, and was born in Clinton County, December 5, 1844. He was reared and educated in his native State, graduating from the People's Commercial College at Reading. After leaving this college, he clerked in the Prothonotary and Register and Recorder's office at Lock Haven, Clinton Co., Pa. Then he went to Williamsport, where he was engaged in the confectionery and bakery business with his brother. His father, Hon. George A. Achenbach, is one of the leading citizens of Clinton County, and for a number of years has been prominently identified officially. We clip from the sketch-book of legislatures of Pennsylvania, in 1876, the following: "George A. Achenbach, Representative from Clinton County, is a gentleman of reputation on the Democratic side of the House. He was born in Columbia County, October 22, 1815, before the birth of the common schools, consequently was educated in the subscription schools, which were in vogue at that day. At twelve years of age he became a clerk in a store. In 1836, he moved to Sugar Valley, then in Center, but now in Clinton County, where he engaged in managing the mercantile interests of a furnace company. In 1860, he was elected to the Legislature from Clinton and Lycoming Counties, serving his constituents so satisfactorily that he was returned by a large majority. He was a Delegate to the Constitutional Convention, serving on some important committees. Mr. A. is very unassuming at his post of duty, and is emphatically a business legislator. He is a man stout built, but not corpulent, with gray hair, large head, and closely shaven face, his countenance indicating good nature. " H. R. resided in Pennsylvania until 1877, when he came West, arriving in Atchison County, July 6. He at once engaged in merchandising. In that capacity he was identified until the summer of 1881. During that time he took up the study of telegraphy, and was appointed railroad agent October 27, 1880. He had received his appointment as Postmaster, October 24, 1877. In both capacities he is eminently qualified, and without the radiant countenance of "Auchy," at the station, Farmington would have but few attractions. He was married June 24, 1869, to Miss Annie F. Ayers, a native of Chester County, Pa., an estimable lady. They have had four children - Mary E., Preston A., Harry S., and James P. Mr. A. is an Odd-Fellow, and in 1876 was District Deputy of Clinton County, Pa., organizing Salona Lodge, No. 937, June 24, 1876. He is also Master Mason.

Ambrose Fisher Achenbach was born in Orangeville, Columbia county, Penn., Jan. 12, 1847, and died at Soldier, Kansas, November 19th, 1917, aged 70 years, 10 months and seven days. He was the fourth child of George A. and Catherine A. Achenbach, whose family consisted of ten children, four boys and six girls, three of whom with the father and Mother have preceded him to the great beyond. He came west in 1872, when comparatively a young man and located at Washington, Kan., where he met and married Hattie R. Gish, Oct. 25, 1873. To thus union were born five children, Geo. A., of Walters, Okla., Maude H., died in infancy, Glen R. of Soldier, Ks., Burt H., of Walters, Okla., and Daisy, the mother and three grandchildren are left to mourn his death. In 1877 he moved to Atchison county where he located on a farm and later to Monrovia, where he was engaged in the mercantile business and was also postmaster. He removed from there to Effingham and then to Avoca. In the fall of 1888, he moved to Holton and engaged in the implement business for a number of years and later moved back to Avoca and afterwards to Soldier. He was appointed postmaster at Soldier in 1913, which he was holding at the time of his death .. He was a member of the Christian church, Soldier Lodge 240 A. F. & A. M. and Soldier Lodge No. 509 A. O. U. W. .. For nearly five years the editor of the Clipper .. Among the out of town people who were here to attend Mr. Achenbach's funeral were, Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Achenbach and daughter, Elizabeth of Topeka.

BYRON C ACHENBACH DIES SUNDAY NIGHT AFTER A LONG ILLNESS

Byron C Achenbach, prominent resident of the city for over 32 years, died Sunday evening at the Lock haven hospital. Mr. Achenbach was aged 73 years.

He was born in Loganton, going to Williamsport to learn the baking trade. In 1877 he and his brother Hiram Achenbach went to Atchinson Kansas where the former married Miss Inez Hall. Two years after their marriage they returned to Williamsport, moving to Muncy and then Bellefonte where Mr. Achenbach established a baking,confectionery and catering business.Thirty-two years ago they came to Williamsport beginning the business that is now run by Guy H Achenbach.

Mr. Achenbach was a senior member of St. Luke's Reformed Church. He was affiliated with all the Mason bodies, the Williamsport Consistory and the Jaffa Temple.

He is survived by his wife and three sons: Guy H Achenbach of this city, Clarence H of Philadelphia and B Earl of Narberth, one brother Hiram of Wichita, two sisters: Mrs. Regina Sheats of Ashland KY, and Mrs. Grace B Miller of Johnstown. In less than two months the Achenbach's would have celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary.

Obituary
Moyer – Mrs. Mary E. Moyer, widow of the late Joseph K. Moyer, passed away at her home in Rebersburg last Saturday night, as the result of general debility. Her maiden name was Mary E. Kline and as a girl she attended the Millersville Normal School where she equipped herself as a teacher. Later she taught school at Loganton where she met Joseph K. Moyer and their marriage occurred in February, 1869. The latter was a lumberman and some years after their marriage they located at Rebersburg which had been their home ever since.
Mr. Moyer passed away eleven years ago but of their ten children, eight survive, as follows: Flora (Mrs. Limbert) and John Nevin, of Rebersburg; Sara (Mrs. Bray), of Freeland, Pa; Elizabeth (Mrs. Kreider), of Toledo, Ohio; Hiram Bruce, of Albion, Pa.; Jason K., of Corning, N.Y., and Miriam (Mrs. Sherman), of Freehold, N.J. One daughter, Eva Moyer, died a few years ago and Calvin in childhood. She also leaves one brother, Howard Kline, of Adrian, Mich., and a sister, Mrs. Hattie Mengle, of Palmerton, N.J.
From early girlhood Mrs. Moyer was a faithful member of the Reformed church and a true Christian woman. Funeral services were held at her late home at Rebersburg on Wednesday morning by Rev. Kurtz after which her remains were laid to rest in the Union cemetery at Rebersburg.
