    Funeral services for Mrs. Wilma Hedges Swartzendruver, 31, who passed away at 4;50 a.m. Monday, March 15, 1960, was held Thursday, March 17, at the Wagler Funeral Home, in Bloomfield, Iowa. The Rev. Donald Gill, pastor of the First Christian Church, in Ottumwa, Iowa, and the Rev. Myron Kreible officiated.
    Wilma, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Hedges, of Ottumwa, Iowa, was born January 4, 1929, in Kirksville, Mo.
    On September 24, 1950, she was united in marriage to John Swartzendruver, and to this union one daughter, Kathryn Ann, was born.
    She is survived by her husband and daughter of the home, her parents, one brother, Duane Hedges, of Dayton, Ohio, several uncles, aunts, cousins and other relatives and friends.
    A brother, Vernon, preceded her in death.

Superintendent of schools. They owned the Dam View Motel, Forsythe, Missouri, the Ozarks. In 1969 he missed the first reunion in 37 years.


    Hedges-Christy.
    A very pretty home wedding took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Christy, Saturday at 4:30 when their daughter, Mary was given in marriage to William Hedges of near Purdin. The officiating minister was Elder Fitzgerald. Only the members of the immediate families were present. After receiving the congratulations of those present all were invited into the dining room where a bountiful wedding supper was served. The groom is a promising young farmer of near Purdin.
    The bride is an accomplished young lady who numbers her friends by her acquaintance. The happy pair are now receiving the congratulations of their many young friends in which the Leader Record joins.

    William M. Hedges, 78
    William M. Hedges, 78, of Forsythe, Mo., died June 21 at a nursing home there, where he had been a patient several weeks. He was an uncle of Mrs. Clifford Hoag, and a cousin of Mrs. Grave Fox, both of Fairmount. Funeral services were June 24 in Forsythe, and he was taken to Purdin, Mo., on Wednesday where graveside rites and burial were held.
    He was born November 20, 1896, the son of James A. and Lucy Cox Hedges. He married Mary Christy, Oct. 28, 1916, and she survives. A son, Duane, and three grandchildren live in Texas.
    He had been superintendent of schools in Ottumwa, Iowa, before his retirement, when he moved to Forsythe, where he owned a motel until his health failed. He was a member of the Church of Christ, Lions Club, and was active in civic affairs. He frequently visited in Fairmount and attended the Hedges reunions.

    Mary Hazel Hedges
    Forsyth – Services for Mary Hazel Hedges, 88, Forsyth, will be at 9 a.m. Friday in Community Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Friday in Purdin Cemetery, Perdin, under the direction of Forsyth Whelchel Chapel.
    Mrs. Hedges, a retired school teacher, died Wednesday in Plantation Hills Nursing Home.
    Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

    James' uncle James Alva Hedges was one of the first five elders. He was also a cousin of Lee Cronkhite (husband of Ida May Hedges) and Edward Ellis (husband of Serona Hedges), two of the other first seven deacons.
