    Linn County crash kills teen.
    A 19-year-old Browning man was killed in Linn County shortly after midnight last night when the car he was driving overturned, pinning him in the vehicle.
    Pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Wesley Rhodes was Clinton Dee Britton.
    The State Highway Patrol said Britton was traveling east on Route O in Browning at the Linn-Sullivan county line when his 1969 Dodge swerved off the north side of the road.
    The vehicle came back across the road, hit a concrete culvert, overturned in a ditch on the south side of the road, pinning Britton in the vehicle. The car was demolished.

    Clinton D. Britton was born April 25, 1960, the son of Nelson and Marjorie Woodside Britton. He attended school at the Linn County R-1 school in Browning.
    Funeral service will at at 2 o'clock Monday at the Browning Baptist Church with the Rev Clarence Barker officiating. Burial will be in the Purdin cemetery under the direction of the Wade Funeral Home in Browning.
    Survivors include his parents of the home, a twin brother, Charles, Browning; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Lenna Woodside, Browning; and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Britton, Browning.

    Mary Leanna Woodside died at the Brookfield Nursing Center July 27.
    Services were held at 2 p.m. at the Browning United Methodist Church, the Rev. Nick Campbell officiating. Burial was in the Purdin cemetery under direction of the Wright Funeral Home, Browning.
    Music was by Junius Mundell, soloist and Ila Nevins, organist. Casketbearers were Richard Woodside, Rick Woodside, Lindel Woodside, Darrell Woodside, Charles Britton and Joe Nickell.
    Mary Leanna, daughter of William Edward and Lucie Hedges Jenkins, was born Aug. 20, 1897 at Purdin. She was married to Jesse William Woodside March 29, 1914. He preceded her in death Dec. 22, 1969.
    Mrs. Woodside is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Norman E. and Vivian Woodside, Marlin E. and Vera Woodside; two daughters and one son-in-law Marjorie E. and Nelson Britton, Dorothy E. Hollon, Bronwing; 11 grandchildren, Richard Woodside, Carol Stroud, Linda King, Norma Snyder, Ricky Linn Woodside, Marlene Finney, Karen Stanley, Lindel Woodside, Darrell Woodside, Charles Britton, all of Linneus and Patty Nickell; 21 great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
    Also surviving are two brothers, Douglas Jenkins, Denver, Howard Jenkins, Kansas City; two sister, Grace Patterson, Purdin, Viola Looney, Denver; three sisters-in-law, Bertha Jenkins, Denver, Lorene Jenkins, Kansas City; two brothers-in-law; Paul Looney, Denver; Harold Patterson, Purdin and several nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by two brothers; a sister; a grandson, Clinton Britton, and a son-in-law, Junior Hollon.
    Mrs. Woodside was a member of Bear Branch United Methodist Church. She and her husband had farmed until their retirement. She had lived her entire life in the area.

    John William Woodside, son of the late John M. and Mary Stewart Woodside, was born near Purdin, Missouri, on August 21, 1860, died November 22, 1944, aged 84 years, 3 months and 1 day.
    He was married February 11, 1885, to Pauline Phillips. Nine children were born to this union, two children preceded him in death, Jay William and an infant daughter.
    He leaves to mourn his passing his aged companion, four sons and three daughters, Mrs. Mae Wright, of Santa Paula, California; Mrs. Sina Elliott, of Highmare, South Dakota; Mrs. Pearl Guyer, of Omak, Washington; Alex H. and Jessie Woodside, of Purdin, Missouri; Herman Woodside of Trenton, Missouri, and Stewart Woodside, of Omak, Washington. Twenty-three grandchildren, and twenty-four great grandchildren. One brother, E.S. Woodside, of Rocky Ford, Colorado, and a number of nieces and nephews. His father, mother, four sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
    Six grandsons are in the armed services. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church for 55 years.

    Pauline Phillips Woodside, daughter of James and Kathryn Phillips, was born near LaSalle, Illinois, August 24, 1866, and passed away March 6, 1948. Age 81 years, 6 months and 13 days.
    She came to Missouri with her parents in 1884, where they settled on a farm east of Purdin, Missouri and there she spent all the remaining years of her life except the past three.
    She was united in marriage to John W. Woodside on February 11, 1885, and to this union nine children were born, five sons and four daughters.
    Her husband, one son, Jay, and an infant daughter preceded her in death.
    Those who survives her passing are: Alex and Jesse, of Purdin, Mo., Herman, of Trenton, Mo., Stewart, of Omak, Wash., May Wright, of Santa Paula, Calif., Sina Elliott of Brookfield, Pearl Guyer of Omak, Wash. Three sisters, Mrs. Kate White, Oglesby, Ill., Ada Jackson, Modale, Iowa, Eva Phillips and one brother, Newton Phillips, Riverside, Calif. Twenty three grandchildren and thirty one great grandchildren. A number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
    She was united with the Grantsville Presbyterian Church on March 9, 1890.
    Funeral services were held at the Thorne Funeral Home in Linneus, on March 8, 1948, conducted by Rev. Kenneth Kelley of Brookfield. Her remains were taken to the Pleasant Grove cemetery and she was laid to rest beside her husband and son.

    William Edward Jenkins, 82, died Sunday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jesse Woodside, east of Purdin.
    Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Christian church at Purdin, conducted by the Rev. William Icenogle. Burial will be in the Jenkins Cemetery.
    Mr. Jenkins was born Sept. 26, 1886, near Browning, and had lived his entire life in Browning and Purdin. He was married to Lucy Melinda Hedges on March 4, 1894. She died January 1, 1939. They were the parents of 11 children. Three died in infancy.
    Surviving are four daughters: Mrs. Lee Anna Woodside, Purdin, Mrs. Marie Knuckey, Tacoma, Wash., Mrs. Grace Collins and Mrs. Viola Harvey, Winigan; four sons: Howard Jenkins, Purdin, Everett, Douglass, and Leonard Jenkins, Denver.
    There are 24 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren surviving.

    Mrs. Lucy Jenkins had the misfortune to get her arm broke and James Hedges and wife received several bruises when Mr. Hedges’ car turned over at Bucklin as they were returning from Illinois where they had been visiting relatives and friends.

    Lucy Malinda Jenkins departed this life at her home in Purdin, January 2, 1939, at the age of 64 years. She was united in marriage to W.E. Jenkins on March 4, 1894. Eleven children were born to this union, three of whom preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her passing the husband, surviving children, five brothers, three sisters and sixteen grandchildren. Early in life she united with the Church of Christ in Purdin and funeral services were held at that place on Wednesday afternoon, January 4 at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Corn. Interment was made in the Jenkins cemetery south of Browning.

    Lucy Melinda, daughter of W.R. and Sarah L. Hedges, was born in Rowan County, Kentucky, December 11, 1874, and departed this life at her home in Purdin, January 1, 1939, at the age of 64 years and 20 days. She was united in marriage to W.E. Jenkins, March 4, 1894. To this union eleven children were born, three of whom preceded her in death. Besides her devoted husband, she leaves to mourn her passing her children: Viola Mae Harvey of Thermopolis, Wyo.; Everett Alonzo and Leonard Ercel Jenkins of Loveland, Colo.; William Douglas Jenkins of Brookfield, Mo.; Lee Anna Woodside of Browning, Mo.; Grave Geneva Collins of New Boston, Mo.; Maude Marie Owens of the home. Also five brother and three sisters, P.T. Hedges, Natchitoches, La., George Hedges, Fairmount, Ill; Jasper Hedges and Emma Gardner, Riverton, Wyo.; Mary Wood, Dallas, Texas; J.A. Hedges, J.W. Hedges and Anna Bagley, all of Purdin, Mo. Also sixteen grandchildren, with a large number of other relatives and friends. At an early age in life she was united with the Church of Christ at Purdin and remained a faithful and active member. Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ in Purdin, Wednesday afternoon, January 4th, at 2 o’clock conducted by the pastor, Rev. Cornn. Interment in the Jenkins cemetery.
