    Burtis Ringo Bible.
    “Mrs. H. Ringo’s Bible” is the inscription in the inside front cover of this Bible. Containing the records of the family of Burtis and Hannah (Rector) Ringo, the Bible passed to their youngest daughter, Susan Ringo Owens, and to Susan Owens’ daughter, Sallie Ann Owens Overly, and thence to Sallie Overley’s granddaughter, Lola May Overley Rawlings, of Denison, Kansas. The Inscriptions were transcribed by Allen Gardiner in 1973 and were printed in the Topeka Genealogical Society Quarterly, vol.4, #1, January 1974, pp.17-19.

    Note: Burtis and Hannah (Rector) Ringo migrated from Culpepper and Fauquier Counties, Virginia in the early 1800s to Fleming County, Kentucky, where they passed the remainder of their days. They, along with other members of the family were buried on their own farm near Belle Grove Springs. In the late 1970s this land was converted to reservoir use and the graves and gravestones were moved. Descendants of the family petitioned to have these stones move to the city cemetery at Flemingsburg, the county seat, where many later descendants were already buried.
