    Notes:

    Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Sunset Chapel of Taft Funeral Home for Robert S. Jaggers, 71. The pastor of the Taft Heights Assembly of God Church will officiate in the services.

    He was born May 21, 1909 in Los Angeles to Gurney and Pearley Jaggers, and died Wednesday, December 19, 1980, in a Bakersfield hospital.

    Wilmington was his home until 1928 when he moved to Taft. He and the former Ethel Decker were married here Oct. 29, 1928.

    He had served in the Sheriff's Department for two years before going to work for Safe Oil Co. in 1938. In 1940 he returned to law enforcement, serving as night sergeant for the Taft Police Dept. He left the department in 1956 to start his own Merchants Police and Protective Patrol, two years later in 1958 adding Jagger's Burglar Alarms to his business. He retired and sold his merchants Patrol in 1972, however remained active as manager in the Jagger's Burglar Alarm Co., which is currently owned by his son.

    In addition to his wife Ethel, he is survived by a son, two sisters, five grandchildren and one great great grandson, and many other relatives in the Los Angeles area.

    Serving as casket bearers will be fellow officers of the Taft Police and Sheriffs Departments. Interment will follow the services in the West Side Cemetery.

    Friends who wish to pay their respects may call this evening and prior to services at the Taft Funeral Home.

    Patrolman G.H. Jaggers has been removed to the Angelus hospital to Los Angeles Suffering from tuberculosis, he having been ill for some time and now in a serious condition.

    G.H. Jaggers, policeman at Wilmington, who was reported in a critical condition last week is now getting along nicely at the Angelus hospital in Los Angeles and expects to leave the hospital the end of this week. He is suffering from ulceration of the bowels and will have to use a wheel chair for some time until he regains his health again. His plans are to go to the mountains to recuperate.

    Police Officer Jaggers Died in Los Angeles
    The date of the funeral of Police Officer G.H. Jaggers of Wilmington who died at the Angelus hospital in Los Angeles at 1 o’clock Friday afternoon has not been set, it not having been decided whether the interment will be in Wilmington or in the east.
    The decedent was in the hospital for about a month before his death expiring from a complicated ailments.
    He leaves a wife and two children who reside in Wilmington. His death was a shock to his many friends who had been informed he was on the road to recovery.
    The parents of the decedent will arrive here tomorrow for the funeral. Interment may be held in the Wilmington cemetery Thursday.

    Funeral of G.H.Jaggers Held This Afternoon
    The funeral of the late Guerney H. Jaggers, the Wilmington police officer who passed away in a Los Angeles hospital last Friday, was held in Wilmington at 2 o’clock this afternoon. Many police officers attended the services, a part of the fellow officers of the decedent acting as pall-bearers.
    After the services at the undertaking parlors of D.J. Woods, the interment was held in the Inglewood cemetery, a number of autos filled with friends of the decedent accompanying the remains. Mr. Jaggers left to mourn his loss a wife and four children in Wilmington, and other relatives who live in the east.

    Elijah A. Alkire, 1050 Broad avenue, died last night in a long Beach hospital. He was 87 years of age.
    He is survived by three daughters: Mmes. George M. Smith, Pearl Jaeggers and Frank Russell; two sons, William A. and Kenneth M. Alkire, of Everett, Wash.; 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
    With Cartwright Mortuary, 702 Board avenue, in charge, funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in Inglewood Park Cemetery.

    Mrs. Rosa Maria Alkire, 73, passed away yesterday morning at her home, 1035 Fried avenue. A resident of this city for eight years, she was a member of the Full Gospel Assembly.
    Survivors are her husband, Elijah; four daughters, Mesdames Hattie Smith, Nellie Broch, Pearl Jaeggers, Bessie Russell, all of Wilmington; two sons, Kenneth of Wilmington and William of Everett, Washington; a brother, J.R. Hedges of Vici, Oklahoma; twenty grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
    All of the family was united last September 19 when Mr. and Mrs. Alkire celebrated their fifty-sixth wedding anniversary.
    Funeral services will be announced later by Woods’ Mortuary.
