    Richard Wayne Harbaugh, 67, of Renner Road, Keymar, died Friday, Jan. 7, 1994, at Frederick Memorial Hospital after an illness of several months.
    Born March 21, 1926, in Frederick County, he was a son of the late Bruce and Mary Hedges Harbaugh.
    He was the husband of Virginia G. Harbaugh.
    He was a member of Thurmont United Methodist Church. He served with the U.S. Army as a lineman with the Signal Corps.
    He was self-employed building contractor for most of his life, and was then employed with Thomas, Bennett and Hunter as a foreman for seven years prior to retirement in 1982.
    Surviving, in addition to his wife are daughters Mary E. Funk of near Woodsboro, Judy F. Bohn of near Frederick and Alice L. Ritter of Fairfield, Pa.; sister Catherine L. Himes of Apopka, Fla.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by daughter Linda D. Harbaugh; brothers Lee Harbaugh, Bruch Harbaugh and Bernard Harbaugh; sister Alice Swift and granddaughter Nicki Ritter.
    Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Woodsboro Funeral Home of D.D. Hartzler, with his pastor, Rev. Kenneth C. Hamrick, officiating. Interment will be in Rocky Hill Cemetery near Woodsboro.
    The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Mrs. Mary A. Harbaugh, 75 of RFD 1, Rocky Ridge, died Wednesday morning at Frederick Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was born May 30, 1896, in Walkersville, and was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Alice Erb Hedges.
    She is survived by four sons, Bruce H. Harbaugh, Ladiesburg, Bernard T. Harbaugh, Frederick, and Richard W. Harbaugh of Walkersville; two daughters, Mrs. Alice Smith of Marion, and Mrs. Katherine Himes, of Rocky Ridge, with whom she made her residence; two brothers, D. Ford Hedges, Frederick, and Glenn Hedges, Flushing, N.Y.; two sisters, Mrs. David Hoke and Mrs. Guy Hahn, both of Frederick; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
    Friends may call at the Barton Funeral Home, Walkersville, after 4 p.m. today. Services will be held at the funeral home Friday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Linwood Hubbard, retired minister, will officiate. Interment will be in the Glade Cemetery, Walkersville.

    Charles Henry Hedges, who devotes his energies and time to rural occupations, was born on the old Hedges homestead farm in Frederick District, on the Emmitsburg pike, Frederick County, January 23, 1858. He is the son of Daniel and Catherine (Devilbiss) Hedges. ... He acquired his education in the public schools at Dublin, Frederick County. He gave up school at the age of nineteen, and worked for his mother on the place farmed by his brother David, until he attained his majority. After his marriage, which took place in 1888, he began farming on his own account in Walkersville District, remaining there for one year. Mr. Hedges then removed to his present farm, owned by Clay Fulton, of Walkersville, and here he has since lived. This is a period of twenty years, and speaks well for Mr. Hedges.

    Mrs. Alice E. Hedges
    Mrs. Alice E. Hedges, widow of Charles H. Hedges, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Guy Hahn, 3 Frederick avenue, Tuesday evening at 7:30 o’clock, aged 88 years. She was born in this county a daughter of the late Uriah and Catherine Erb and lived her entire life in the Glade Valley section. She was a member of the Glade Reformed church, Walkersville.
    Survivors include three sons, Charles Wade Hedges, Pasadena; D. Ford Hedges, near this city; Glenn Hedges, Flushing, N.Y.; three daughters, Mrs. David Hoke, this city; Mrs. Bruce Harbaugh, near Walkersville and Mrs. Hanh; a brother, Thomas W. Erb, Peru, Ind.; a half sister, Mrs. Ora Linthicum, Madison Heights, Va. Fourteen grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
    The body will rest at the home of Mrs. Hahn, where friends may call until 11 o’clock Friday morning when the body will be removed to the funeral home in Walkersville for services at two-thirty o’clock that afternoon. Interment in Glade cemetery, Walkersville. G.C. Barton, funeral director.

    Daniel Hedges, son of Enos and Catharine (Kemp) Hedges, was born on his father's farm in Frederick District. He was identified with rural life all his days. He died at the age of forty years and his children inherited his share of his father's estate. He used his right of franchise to further the interests of the Republican Party. Mr. Hedges was married to Catharine Devilbiss, daughter of Daniel and Lucretia Devilbiss. She died at Walkersville in 1896. Mr. and Mrs. Hedges are buried at Glad Cemetery, and they were affiliated with the Reformation Church.
