The wife of the venerable and much-respected Lewis Alexander, the Representative from Owen county, died here Saturday morning. The House adopted a resolution expressing their sympathy for their grief-stricken colleague. Mrs. Alexander’s only daughter, a lovely young woman, was married here two or three weeks ago, and from the marriage bell the scene shifts to tears and death. Such is life.

Alexander – On Saturday morning Mrs. Alexander, wife of Representative Lewis Alexander of Owen county, died in her room at the Capital Hotel of erysipelas, the result of a slight bruise inflicted accidentally by striking her foot against a chair. It was but a few months ago that Mr. Alexander was called to mourn the death of a daughter, and now in the death of his beloved wife his cup of sorrow is full to overflowing. The bereaved husband, who with his wife made numerous friends here during their stay in this city, has the sympathy of the entire community, as well as that of the Legislature, which gave expression to its sorrow in a suitable resolution. The remains were taken to new Liberty, Owen county, the home of the deceased, where the interment took place on Monday.
