    Howard was born on March 29, 1933 in Grant County, KY to Clay and Edna McClanahan. Howard grew up a farm boy in Williamstown, KY and upon completion of high school joined the United States Coast Guard where he served for 3 years. During this time he met and married his wife of 65 years, Betty Lawson.

    Higher education followed as he studied at the University of Kentucky. After graduating from the U of K, Howard went to work for the Veteran’s Administration; a job that took them across the United States until they landed in Greendale, where they raised their sons Patrick, Robert, and David. Howard stayed with the VA for 28 years until his retirement in 1988.

    Howard was preceded in death by his parents Clay and Edna McClanahan and son, Patrick McClanahan.

    Edna Brumback McClanahan, 94, of Williamstown, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Grant County. She was a homemaker and a member of Dry Ridge Christian Church, Grant County Homemakers Club, and Grant County Hospital Auxiliary. Her husband, Clay M. McClanahan, preceded her in death.
    Survivors include sons, Philip Michael McClanahan of Williamstown and Howard Ray McClanahan of Greendale, Wis.; a sister, Edith Doyle of Williamstown; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
    Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Williamstown Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Fairview Christian Church Building Fund, 501 Fairview Road, Williamstown, Ky. 41097; or St. Elizabeth North Hospice, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014

    Several from here attended Memorial services at Aurora Thursday.
    Reuben McClanahan a resident of Harrison Ridge for the past nine years, died of paralysis at his home, May 31, 1918, aged 69 years. He was a member of the Christian church and well versed in the bible. Mr. McClanahan was of a pleasant and jovial disposition and will be sadly missed. The body was taken Saturday to Dry Ridge, Ky., for burial. His death is especially sad, there being two taken from a household of three within a week. The youngest son Ernest was called to the military camp on the Monday before.
