Rowan farm agency head dies
Morehead - Chenault James, the executive director of the Rowan County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service for the last 27 years, did Saturday in Morehead, apparently of a heart attack. He was 54.
A resident of Route 3, James had served two terms on the Rowan County school board. He was elected to a third term but resigned because of ill health.
He also was a farmer and a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Tie James of Falls Church, Va., and Paul James of Lexington; a sister, Fern Pennington of Morehead; and three brothers, Cletis James of Mount Washington, Ival James of Richmond, and Chester James of Springfield, Ohio.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lane-Stucky Funeral Home. Visitation will be after noon today.
