    New Castle Baby Killed In Mishap
    New Castle, Ind. (AP) – An 18-month-old baby girl was killed today by the car of an insurance salesman as he drove away from her grandparents’ home three miles west of New Castle.
    She was Cordelia Kissick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Kissick, who live near New Castle.
    The salesman, Marvin Clark, 27, New Castle, told Deputy Sheriff Cash Robinson he did not see the child standing in front of his car as he drove from the home of the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Walles.
    Coroner Robert Couder gave a verdict of accidental death.

    Henry Co. Child Killed By Car Near Home Of Grandparents
    New Castle. – An 18-month-old child was killed Wednesday by a car in front of the home of her grandparents near here.
    Cordella Pauline Kissick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Kissick, of Mt. Lawn, died when she was hit by a car driven by Marvin Clark, 27 years old, New Castle insurance salesman.
    Clark told police officers he had been at the home of the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Walls, of near Westwood to make an insurance collection. He said he didn’t see the child when he returned to his car.
    Police theorized the child was standing in front of the auto or hanging on its bumper. Clark saw her body in the road in his rear view mirror as he stopped at another nearby home.
    Both Mt. Lawn and Westwood are little communities west of New Castle. Coroner Robert Couden ruled the death accidental.
    Survivors include the parents; two brothers, Darrell and Gerald, both at home; the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walls, and the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Cash Kissick, also of near New Castle.

    Funeral services for the child will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Davis, Smith and Couden funeral home. Friends may call at the funeral home.

    NEW CASTLE - Leroy Kissick, age 75, of New Castle, peacefully went to be with the Lord Friday evening at Henry County Hospital following an extended illness.

    He was born September 9, 1931 in Henry County to the late Milford Cash and Della (Wolfe) Kissick Sr.

    He worked at Warner Gear for 11 years, was an auto mechanic of 20 years and worked for Ingersoll Steel for 22 years.

    Leroy was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and loved people in general.

    He was a proud member of the Crown City Cruisers and loved his cars.

    Leroy was an avid NASCAR and sports fan. He also enjoyed fishing, watching T.V., camping, and his two dogs Missy and Angel.

    Leroy will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

    Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Wanda (Kinnett) Kissick of New Castle; four sons, Darrell Kissick of Arizona, Leon (wife: Anne) Kissick of Florida, Harold Kissick of Kennard, Rodney (friend: Nicole) Massengale; one daughter, Cheryl (husband: Rufus) Montoya of California; three sisters, Helen (husband: David) Sullivan of Greenfield, Phyllis Wilson of Anderson, and Marguerite Bertram of New Castle; also several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Cordella Kissick and Carol Hendershot; two brothers, Milford Cash Kissick Jr. and David Kissick; and one sister, Evelyn Kissick.

    Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Minister Frank Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition.

    Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

    Family has requested family and friends wear casual dress.

    Kash Kissick Sr.
    Kash Kissick Sr., 83, Greensboro, died Jan. 21 in his home.
    The son of Ezra and Blanche Moody Kissick, he was born in Rowan , Ky., Sept. 19, 1896.
    He was a veteran of World War I, serving in the U.S. Army. After his military service, he moved to Henry County and had lived most of his life in the New Castle and Spiceland areas. He had been an employee of Maxwell Auto Co., later Chrysler Corporation for 26 years. He then took up farming where Raintree Heights is now located until retirement in 1962. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.
    He and his wife Della Wolf, were married in New Castle Dec. 31, 1923, and she survives.
    Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Howard (Helen) Kidd of Indianapolis, Mrs. Elmer (Phyllis) Wilson of Pendleton and Mrs. James (Marguerite) Bertram of New Castle; three sons, Kash Jr., and David of Kennard, and Leroy of New Castle, 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. John (Cory) Selvy and Mrs. Pearl Collier, both of New Castle and Mrs. Bessie Hill of Moberly, Mo.; a brother, Arthur of New Castle and many nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services were held Thursday in Macer Funeral Home at New Castle with the Rev. David Mitchell presiding. Burial was in Glen Cove Cemetery, Knightstown.

    Iola Della Kissick, 96, of Greensboro died Jan. 19, 2002, at The American Living Center.
    Survivors include her son LeRoy Kissick of New Castle; daughters Helen I. Sullivan of Greenfield, Phyllis Wilson of Madison and Marguerite Bertram of New Castle; sister, Eleanor Forbes of New Castle; 22 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milford Kash Kissick St.; sons Milford Kash Kissick Jr. and David Lamar Kissick; two brothers; five sisters; and four grandchildren.
    Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Macer-Hall Funeral Home in New Castle with the Rev. Gene Bennett officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home where the Order of Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m.

    Mrs. Mary Kissick Hill
    New Castle – Mrs. Mary B. Kissick Hill, 83 years old, died Tuesday following a brief illness. A native of Farmers Ky., she had resided in New Castle for 36 years.
    Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. John Selvy, Mrs. Emma Akers, Mrs. Marshall Collier, all of New Castle, and Mrs. Waymon Hill of Jacksonville, Mo.; four sons, Stanly and Cash Kissick of New Castle, Arthur Kissick of Hillsboro and Simon Kissick of Richmond, and 32 grandchildren.
    Funeral services for Mrs. Hill were held Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the Pentecostal church with Rev. Kelley and Rev. Bibbs officiating. Burial was in the South Mound cemetery.
