    Notes:

MHR note: Indiana Louisa went to North Madison, Indiana to visit her relatives, who sent her to school there two years. While there she heard the song "Lourena" and thereafter called herself Lourena and her family called her "Lou". According to Ida Cronkhite, she was a pretty, lively girl and became engaged to William Vawter, a relative (called "Wid"). When she returned to Kentucky, "Wid" wrote her at intervals, saying he was coming to see her, but each time failed to appear. She taught a mountain school in Kentucky and in the spring of 1879 brough home her husband, Joe Enix (who after his second marriage began spelling his name as "Enochs").

Lou and her husband went to Illinois with her parents in October 1879 and remained there until after the first child was born. But Joe became homesick and they returned to Carter County, Kentucky and their second child was born there.

According to Ida Cronkhite, Lou contracted malaria and died. But Helen Gearhart Greers said her mother thought it had been TB that had caused Lou's death..

Lou's mother, Samanatha sent a postcard about her daughter's death to relatives in Missouri.

Joshua Tevis, was immediately put upon arduous duty as the advanced guard of the Army of the Ohio, in the campaign against Gen. Kirby Smith. In November and December, 1862, having been assigned to Brig. Gen. Bilmore's division, it was employed on the line towards Knoxville, Tenn. passing the entire winter in continuous marching. During the spring and summer of 1863 the regiment was employed, by battalion, in West Virginia and Northeastern Tennessee. In Southwest Virginia one of its battalions captured the breech-loading artillery so well know in connection with the history of Marshall's invasion. The services of this regiment were of the most active and efficient character. Its skirmishes and small fights were numerous and its marches continuous and severe. Among other, this regiment participated in the engagements of Elk Fork, Tenn; Gladesville, VA; Triplett's Bridge, Ky; Lancaster, Ky; Richard, Ky (1863); and in the pursuit and rout of the rebel cavalry of Pegran and Scott, beside the numerous affairs attending the advance of Maj. Gen. Granger upon central Kentucky. The regiment was mustered out at Maysville, Ky. 17 September 1863 by Capt. R. B. Hull, United States Army."
