    Virgil W. 'Bill' Brazelton, 94, of Chrisman, passed away, June 29, 2022. Born on February 28, 1928 in Brocton, Illinois, he was the son of Grace and Mike Brazelton. He married his high school sweetheart, Joan Crum of Brocton, IL, on June 1, 1947, at the Brocton Christian Church.
    He is survived by three children; also six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Bill has one surviving sibling living in Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 72 years, and two brothers, Elmer & Everett.
    Bill attended a one-room schoolhouse east of Brocton, IL, graduating from Brocton High School. He and Joan were very active in their local church. In his early years, Bill was employed as a farmer; he retired from Lebanon Chemical Company in Danville, IL. Bill was a big Illini fan, enjoying basketball and football the most; he loved playing cards and loved winning even more. He will be remembered for his smiles, good humor, and the happy days.

    Virgil W. 'Bill' Brazelton, 94, of Chrisman, passed away at 12:39pm, Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at home. He was born on February 28, 1928, to Grace and Mike Brazelton in Brocton, IL. He married his high school sweetheart, Joan Crum of Brocton, IL, on June 1, 1947, at the Brocton Christian Church.
    He is survived by their three children, Rosemary Northrup of Savoy, Dan (Jane) Brazelton of Ohio, and Ivan (Jane) Brazelton of Chrisman. They have six grandchildren located in Minnesota, Ohio, and Illinois; and four great grandchildren. Bill has one surviving sibling, Charles (Jan) Brazelton of Florida. He also leaves behind his home care giver and good friend for over 8 years, Cindy Adams. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 72 years, and two brothers, Elmer & Everett.
    Dad attended a one-room schoolhouse east of Brocton, IL and graduated from Brocton High School. He and Joan were very active in their Church. He retired from Lebanon Chemical Company in Danville, IL. Dad is now back home with Mom keeping watch over the family. Dad was a big Illini fan and enjoyed basketball and football the most. Dad loved playing cards and loved winning even more. His loved ones miss him a lot but remember his smiles, good humor, and the happy days.
    A graveside service will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Franklin Cemetery.

    W.E. Brazelton Dies En Route To Hospital
    A stationary fireman at the Akron Children's home for a decade, William E. Brazelton, 68, of 1068 Seventh av., died today after an illness of six months.
    Mr. Brazelton died en route to City hospital after suffering a heart attack at his home.
    He had recently worked as a stationary fireman at the Herman machine & Tool Co. in Tallmadge. During most of his 18 years in Akron, Mr. Brazelton had been employed at the Children's home. He was a native of Georgetown, Ill.
    He leaves his widow, Hanna; three sons, Michael of Brockton, Ill, Irvin of Detroit, Mich., and Cecil of Windham; five daughters, Marjorie and Audrey, at home, Mrs. Lucy Stover of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Violet Boyer and Mrs. Eva Bond, all of Akron; three brothers, James of Goldendale, Wash., Andrew and Clarence, both of Detroit, Mich.; 20 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
    Funeral arrangements are being made by the Eckard funeral home.
