    Miles Hutchinson Funeral At Purdin
The funeral of the late Miles Hutchinson was held at Purdin at 2 o’clock this Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Ralph Acree, of Kansas City, former pastor.
Miles Harmon, son of Edwin C. and Vilinda J. Hutchinson, was born at Fountain Green, Illinois, September 13, 1856. He departed this life July 12, at a Kirksville hospital at the age of 73 years, 9 months and 18 days.
When a small boy Mr. Hutchinson came with his parents to Linn County, Missouri, where they located on a farm four miles east of Purdin, where Miles grew to manhood. On February 14, 1877, Mr. Hutchinson was united in marriage to Lavina Etta Bumgarner, who passed away February 9, 1913. To this union 7 children were born, four daughters and three sons, namely: Mrs. Mary V. Furr, of Oklahoma City; Mrs. Gertrude Smith, Yuma, Colorado; Mrs. Lola Dot Cale, of Long Beach; Mrs. Etta B. Mesner, of Kansas City; David Elias, of Gladewater, Texas; Abraham Herman, of Purdin, and Edwin, who departed this life at the early age of 17.
On February 15, 1914, Mr. Hutchinson was united in marriage with Mrs. M.L. Hanks, of Purdin, who with the children is left to mourn the loss of a devoted father, kind husband and a Christian gentleman. There are also seven grand children, whom he loved very much and who mourn his going.
A friend of Mr. Hutchinson, in paying tribute said: “Too much praise cannot be give Miles Hutchinson. He believed in the Golden Rule and practiced it. He was one of Linn County’s most progressive citizens. There was an elasticity to Mr. Hutchinson’s mind which age did not claim. His vision stretched to include new ways and means of accomplishing things. He was a man of excellent judgment, careful and diligent in business, a citizen to be mourned by his community and his county, and his church to which he was devoted.”
Mr. Hutchinson will be missed by his family and his many neighbors and friends.
