    Robert William Cassity
    Robert William Cassity, son of William H. and Ora Anna Cassity, was born at Purdin, Mo., December 19, 1868, and departed this life at his home in Purdin January 25, 1942, at the age of 72 years, one month and six day. He is survived by his wife of the home and three sons, Presley Cassity of Milan, Cecil Cassity of Kansas City and Carl Cassity of Purdin, Mo.
    Funeral services were conducted from the home in Purdin Tuesday, January 27, bu Rev. Hines of the Purdin Methodist church, assisted by Rev. Robinson of the Purdin Baptist church. Burial in the Purdin cemetery.
    The Milan Republican, Milan, Missouri. Thursday, 29 January 1942.

    R.W. Cassity Passed Away At Purdin, Jan. 25
    Funeral Services Were Held From Home, Tuesday Morning at 11:00
    Robert W. Cassity, son of William and Louise Cassity, was born near Purdin, Missouri, December 19, 1868, and departed this life from his home in Purdin, January 25, 1942. Age 73 years, 1 month and 6 days.
    On May 12, 1891, he was united in marriage to Miss Ora Karr. To this happy union three children were born: Cecil of Kansas City, Missouri; W.P., of Milan, Missouri; and Carl t., of Purdin, Missouri.
    Besides his companion of more than a half century and their three sons, Mr. Cassity is survived by a brother, James A. Cassity of Mexico, Missouri; and four sisters, Mrs. Mattie Garrett, of Browning, Missouri; Mrs. Effie Pulliam, Mrs. Alfa Cassity and Mrs. Elva Pearson, all of Purdin, Missouri; several grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
    Two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Stone, of Browning, Missouri and Mrs. Adell McIntyre, of Linneus, Missouri, preceded him in death.
    For a number of years Mr. Cassity was in ill health, but bore his afflictions with Christian courage and fortitude.
    In early life he was united with the Methodist in Purdin. Death found him ready for the passage, his face toward the sunset of life but the sunrise of the life beyond.
    Mr. Cassity was well known as a business man, who served his town and community for many years as an industrious and generous helper.
    Funeral services were conducted at the family home at 11 o’clock, Tuesday morning, January 27, by the Rev. E.M. Hines, pastor of the Methodist church, in the presence of a large assembly of relatives, neighbors and friends, who had come to pay their last tribute and farewell. Burial was in the Purdin cemetery.

    Death Comes to J.W. Belcher Today
    Passed Away at His Home at 1:03 O’Clock Following An Illness of a Few Hours
    J.W. Belcher, age 65, died at 1:30 this afternoon at his home in the Piper building at the corner of Locust and Clay streets, after an illness of a few hours. He suffered a stroke of paralysis this morning. The body was removed to the Gordon Funeral Home where it was prepared for burial. Arrangements for the funeral will be made later.
    Mr. Belcher for the past fourteen years, with M.V. Piper, owner, was manager of the Piper building. He was a former resident of Purdin and Browning, but had lived in Chillicothe most of his life.
    Besides his widow, he is survived by four children, Mrs. W.P. Cassity, Purdin; Mrs. Orville Coon, Howard, Kansas; Mrs. A.R. Hammack, Mexico; and Fay Belcher, St. Louis. He is also survived by ten grandchildren.
    Mr. Belcher was born September 25, 1866.
