    George Zehndner, Menlo Park, dies
    George Nicholas Zehndner, 73, died at his home at 620 Berkeley Ave., Menlo Park, last night.
    Mr. Zehndner, who had lived in Menlo Park since 1923, was a night maintenance man for Golden State Creamery on Willow Rd. He was born in Arcata, Calif.
    He was a member of Palo Alto Elks Lodge 1471 and the Live Oak Lodge 271, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, of Palo Alto.
    Survivors include his wife, Julia Irene; a daughter, Mrs. Dorotha Dick of Menlo Park; two brothers, Edward Zehndner of Arcata and Theodore Zehndner of Santa Cruz; a sister, Mrs. Louise McClaskey of Arcata; and two granddaughters, Mrs. Hal Cram of Sacramento and Mrs. Charles Flockhart of Blue Lake, Calif.
    The Rev. Paul Lang of Trinity Lutheran Church will conduct services at 2 p.m. Friday in the Roller & Hapgood Chapel in Palo Alto. Live Oak Lodge 271, IOOF services at Alta Mesa Memorial Park.

    Funeral services of Julia Irene Zehndner, 81, of 620 Berkeley Ave., Menlo Park, were held today at the Redwood Chapel of Roller, Hapgood & Garofoli.
    A native of Maryland, Mrs. Zehndner had lived with a daughter, Mrs. Bernard Romanel, for the past 16 years.
    Mrs. Zehndner died Saturday after an illness of two years.
    Interment was in Alta Mesa Memorial Park, Palo Alto.

    Mrs. Emma Hedges Dies in a Washington Hospital
    Mrs. Emma Hedges, 65 years old, widow of Andrew Hedges, formerly of this city, who made her home with her daughter, Mrs. A.H. Davidson, at 1221 I street northwest, Washington, D.C., died at the Emergency Hospital, Washington, about 11 o’clock yesterday morning form the effects of a dose of carbolic acid, which she had taken about an hour before, supposedly with suicidal intentions. Mrs. Hedges was found in the back yard of the residence in an unconscious condition and was removed to the hospital. She had been in ill health for a number of years and recently had been despondent. Several times she had told her relatives she intended to take her life. The coroner gave a certificate of suicide.
    Mrs. Hedges is survived by three children, They are: Samuel Hedges, of Frederick; Mrs. A.H. Davidson, of Washington, and Mrs. George N. Zehnder, of Aroasa, Cal. Three brothers and one sister also survive her.

    The funeral of Mrs. Emma Hedges, widow of Andrew A. Hedges, of Washington, D.C., will take place from the B&O depot this city tomorrow at 12:40 o’clock, and interment will be made at Mount Olivet cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to attend the funeral.
