    Hedges, David Sharp, 24, 1830 McCullough Drive, died in St. Joseph Hospital 3:55 a.m. Tuesday following an auto accident late Monday night. He was a native of Lexington and a son of Mrs. Sarah Sharp Hedges Haynes and the late Stanley Hedges. He was a member of East Hickman Baptist Church. Besides his mother he is survived by three children, Dorothy Denise, Melvin David and Gregory Alan Hedges, all of Frankfort; brother, Stanley Hedges Jr., Lexington; two sisters, Mrs. Marjorie Steele, Lexington, Mrs. Walter S. Lamb, Radcliffe. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday by Rev. Ross L. Range at the W.R. Milward Mortuary-Broadway. Burial in Lexington Cemetery. Friends may call 3-9 p.m. today.


    Fatal One-Car Wreck Is Third In Three Days.
    David Hedges, 34, of 1830 McCullough Drive, died yesterday morning of head injuries suffered in an accident late Monday on Russell Cave Road near Radcliffe Road.
    Police said Hedges apparently lost control of his car and hit a tree about 10:30 p.m. Monday. He was alone in the car.
    His death was the third fatality in one-car accidents in three days. Jerry Wayne Gill, 32 died Sunday after his car hit a tree on Iron Works Pike. Ricky Barnett, 21, died of head injuries suffered Sunday when he was involved in a one-car accident on Armstrong Mill Road.
    Hedges, a former construction worker, was a member of the East Hickman Baptist Church.
    A native of Lexington, he was the son of Mrs. Sarah Sharp Hedges Haynes and the late Stanley Hedges.
    Other survivors include three children, Dorothy Denise, Melvin David and Gregory Alan Hedges, all of Frankfort; one brother, Stanley Hedges Jr., Lexington, and two sisters, Mrs. Marjorie Steele, Lexington, and Mrs. Walter S. Lamb, of Radcliffe.
    Services will be conducted Thursday at the W.R. Milward Mortuary, Broadway with burial in Lexington Cemetery.

    Stanley Hedges, 76, Sunny Vee Nursing Home, died early today in Grady Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
    A Delaware County resident since 1974, Hedges was a retired railroader.
    Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Betty J. Lamb, Radcliff, Ky., and Mrs. Ralph Calwell, Russell Springs, Ky., and nine grandchildren.
    Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Oak Grove Cemetery.
    Arrangements are in charge of the Bennett-Brown Funeral Home.

    Luther Martin Hedges, 72, Fayette county farmer, was found dead at his home on the DeLong pike at 10:30 a.m. yesterday. Death was attributed to a heart attack.
    A native of Fleming county, he was a son of the late Monroe and Frances Tulley Hedges, but had been a resident of Fayette county since 1923, coming here from Mason county. He was a member of the Christian church.
    He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bessie Cook, Hedges, Fayette county; two daughters, Mrs. J.F. Thompson, Lexington, and Mrs. Perry M. Minor, Huntington, W.Va.; a son, Stanley Hedges, Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Leona cook, Hamilton, Ohio, and Mrs. Mary Gaines, Springfield, Ill.; two brothers, Lloyd Hedges and Floyd Hedge, both of Aberdeen, Ohio, and five grandchildren.
    The body was removed to the W.R. Milward mortuary chapel.

    Mrs. Bessie L. Hedges, 68, widow of Luther Hedges, DeLong road, died at 6 p.m. yesterday at the residence of her daughter Mrs. J.F. Thompson, 355 Woodland avenue, after an illness of one year.
    A native of Mason county, she was a daughter of the late J.F. and Laura McDonald Cook. She received her education in the schools of her native county. She had been a resident of Fayette county since 1921 and was a member of the Christian church in Maxon county.
    Besides Mrs. Thompson, Mrs. Hedges is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Perry Minor, Nicholasville; a son, Stanley Hedges, Springfield, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Doyle, Pontiac, Mich., and Mrs. J.D. Brumagen, Lexington; a brother, O.C. Cook. Fayette county; five grandchildren, David Hedges and Stanley Hedges Jr., J.F. Thompson Jr., Mrs. W.C. Lamb and Mrs. Frank Stelle, all of Lexington; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
    The body was taken to the W.R. Milward mortuary where services will be held.

    Mrs. Betty Lee Sharp, 82, a resident of the Jacks Creek Pike and widow of Ulysses S. Sharp, died early yesterday at a local nursing home after a long illness.
    A native of Jessamine County, she spent much of her life in Fayette County and was a daughter of the later Melvin and Sallie Sagaser Lee. She was a member of the East Hickman Baptist Church.
    Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Frank S. Stephens, Mrs. Stanley Hedges, Mrs. Roy L. Bailey, Mrs. Harry C. Lawson and Miss Elizabeth Sharp, all of Lexington; a son, J. P. Sharp, Oldham County; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
    Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at the W.R. Milward Mortuary-Broadway by the Rev. John T. Wallace. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Nicholasville.
    Casket bearers will be Alvin Stephens, Clarence Stephens, Stanley Hedges, David Hedges, Donald Sharp and Jackie Lawson.

    MHR note: "Monroe" was a blacksmith and a minister in the Christian Church. William Gilkison of Catlin, Illinois can recall seeing him at his forge at Ringos Mills, Kentucky when Willie was about 15 years old.

    Monroe is buried at Godard, Kentucky, as is his wife and son, John Tilden Hedges, but no stones for them could be found.

    Lavina reared the children of her son, Lloyd, when their mother died. Monroe was tall and thin and had dark blue eyes and dark brown hair. This information from Rose Sherlock as told to her sister Ethel Collins.
