Danny Lee Harris, age 57, of Maxey Flat Road, Hillsboro, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2019, at U. K. HealthCare in Lexington.

Born October 27, 1962, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Carless Dewey Harris and Olive Mae Gregory Harris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Denver, Dallas, Roger, Robert, Donnie, and Adrian Harris, and one sister, Betty Jean McKee.

Danny is survived by his wife, Jennifer Hager Harris; two children, Hannah Danielle Harris and Alexander Wade Gregory Harris, both at home; one brother, Sammy (Cibina) Harris of Harrodsburg; three sisters, Shirley (Jerry) Tolliver of Frankfort, Mary (Harold) Stanfield of Flemingsburg, and Debbie Harris of Covington; several nieces and nephews; and other extended family members and friends.

Danny was a former employee of Family Dollar Distribution Center and attended Big Woods Community Church and Little Mary Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family. Danny especially treasured time spent with his children, whom he loved dearly.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, December 2, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jess Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in Caudill Cemetery on Sharkey Road.

Pallbearers will be John Hager, Chris Hager, Larry Caudill, James Caudill, Darwin Gregory, and Michael Spurlock.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, December 2, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.

Danny William Mineer, 53, of Flemingsburg, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, March 24, 2016, at Clark Regional Medical Center.

Born September 25, 1962, in Maysville, KY, Danny was a son of James “Jim” and Ruby Stamm Mineer.

Danny retired from the Department of Transportation as the Supervisor of Right of Ways after 30 years of service. For the last year he worked for Palmer Engineering in Winchester, KY. His first love was farming; he was a lifelong farmer dedicated to his land, his dairy cattle and his family. In addition, he had been an auctioneer for Fleming County Auction and Real Estate, and was always willing to help auctioneer for special events in the community. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Christian Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Natalie Mineer of Morehead; his parents, Jim and Ruby; his brother, Darrell (Karen) Mineer of Flemingsburg; and his nephew, Heath Mineer.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Marvin and Dora Mineer and maternal grandparents, Glen and Dorothy Stamm.

Funeral services will be held at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at 1 p.m., with Bro. Layne Wagner officiating. Burial will follow in Martin Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5 - 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Heath Mineer, Mike Mineer, Brad Mineer, Brent Fields, Anthony Marshall, Keith McDonald, Billy Stamm, Albert Stamm, Jeff Stamm and Jeremy Stamm will serve as pallbearers.

953 Danville - Joseph E. Block, 92, of Danville, passed away at 9:40 pm, Monday September 13, 2016 at his home. He was born March 10, 1924 in Danville, IL to Jesse E. & Elsie Long Block. Joe married Marjorie Fox on April 8, 1950 in Catlin, IL. Marjorie survives as well as: 1 son: John L. Block of Santa Fe, New Mexico; 1 daughter: Deborah (David) Ziebart of Sanford N.C.; 1 grandson: Jason (Amy) Ziebart; and 3 great-grandsons: Noah Ziebart, Joseph Ziebart, Oliver Ziebart. He was preceded in death by 1 bro: Robert Block.

Joseph taught 7th & 8th grade in Catlin for a brief period. He served first in the Navy, and later the Air Force, where he earned the distinctive honor of being a “Navy Golden Shellback.” He served as an Air Force Instructor for over 20 yrs. Prior to returning to Danville, the couple resided for a time in Merced, California. Joe enjoyed golfing and was a member of Toastmasters International, Lions Club of Merced, CA. He attended the First Presbyterian Church of Merced, CA and was an avid reader and book collector.

Funeral services 2 pm Sunday at Robison Chapel in Catlin. Ed Ross will officiate. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Indianola.

Fairmount—(CNS)—George F. Hedges, 83, retired farmer, died at noon Sunday (Feb. 19, 1950) at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. R. Yeazel, here. Death was attributed to coronary thrombosis, following an attack two years age.
Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Tuesday at the Catlin Church of Christ. The Rev. Thomas Overton will officiate, and burial will be in Springhill Cemetery, Danville. The Carrington Funeral Home will be in charge.
Mr. Hedges was living with his daughter while his home here was being completed. He retired from the farm in October, after 20 years.
He was born in Rowland county, Ky., Dec. 29, 1866, son of William and Lavina Hedges. He was married in 1892 to Miss Cora Gritten of near here and spent most of his life in Vermilion County. He was a member of Center Point Church, and after it was sold transferred to the Catlin Church of Christ.
He is survived by his widow, a son, Ralph, Sidell; two daughters, Mrs. Yeazel and Mrs. Willis Fox, Fairmount; two sisters, Mrs. Mary S. Wood, Rockport, Tex., and Mrs. Anna Bagley, Purdin, Mo.; three brothers, P. T. Hedges, Nacogdoches, La.; J. M. Hedges, Riverton, Wyo., and J. W. Hedges, Purdin, Mo.; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. A brother and two sisters preceded him in death.

955 Danville Man Dies Suddenly In Trailer
Chester Alkire, age about 50, of Danville, died suddenly in his auto trailer parked at the side of Route 36 across from the Texaco station in Tuscola about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. He was taken immediately to Jarman hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Alkire, a lumber salesman, had called at the Jones Lumber company earlier in the day. He became ill as he and his wife were enroute south on Main street, leaving Tuscola. They pulled to the side of the highway. He entered the trailer, where he died almost at once.
The body was taken to Sidell by the Waddington ambulance.

956 Danville Robbery Victim Dies
Danville – (U.P.) – Ernest O’Connell, 70, Danville, died at Lakeview Hospital Friday after he was hit on the head by a thief who made off with O’Connell’s wallet containing about $10.
The assault occurred Monday on a downtown Danville street. Hospital authorities said O’Connell died of complications resulting from the blow on his head.

February 8, 1959 ~ February 28, 2021 (age 62)

Surrounded by his loving family, Daryl Austin Alfrey, 62, was called home on February 28, 2021. He lived with gratitude and in service to his family, friends, community, and country.

Daryl was born on February 8, 1959, in Conway, SC. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene Austin and Joyce Marie Alfrey, and his brother, David Lee Alfrey.

Daryl grew up in Polk County, FL. He embraced the unique opportunity of living along the lakes of Central Florida. He enjoyed searching for Indian artifacts, arrowheads, and fossils, and was a water-loving, outdoor enthusiast. He graduated from Auburndale High School and Stetson University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business. While there, he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.

His love of country led him to become a pilot for the United States Navy. He served his country as a P-3 Orion Pilot stationed at NAS Jacksonville, and as a T-34 Instructor Pilot at NAS Pensacola. He was able to continue his passion for flying when he was hired by Delta Air Lines. In his 33 year career, he was a Captain for 24 years. He was a Flight Engineer and First Officer on the B-727, a First Officer and then Captain on the MD-88, a Captain on the B-757, B-767, B-767-300ER, and finally, the B-767-400.

His career complemented his adventurous side. He loved exploring unique places all over the world, always embracing the various cultures and languages. He believed in the importance of family, hard work, and the impact a smile could bring to a person's day. He never met a stranger along his journeys, and he loved telling stories from his travels. Daryl and Rose's love of travel and adventure was instilled in their children through family vacations, scuba diving, boating, fishing, exploring the ocean, and numerous other family traditions. He was a member of the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church and the Community Life United Methodist Church, as well as the Pensacola Beach Elk's Lodge.

He leaves behind his beloved wife and fishing partner of 38 years, Roseann; two daughters, Erin Bevis (Troy) and Amanda O'Connor (Clarke); his son, Michael Austin Alfrey; granddaughter Emilia Rose Bevis; two sisters, Jeannie Carroll and Leigh Ann Morris (David); and many nieces, nephews, and extended relatives; as well as friends whom he loved like family.

A memorial Service will be held on June 12, 2021, at the Community Life United Methodist Church, Gulf Breeze, FL. Receiving line will be at 10:00 am, followed by a service at 11:00 am. Rose Lawn Funeral Home, Gulf Breeze, FL, has been entrusted with arrangements.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the wonderful and caring doctors, nurses, and staff at the Moffitt Cancer Center, Gulf Breeze Hospital, and the Ciano Cancer Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation.

Sturgis – Memorial services will be at a later date in Cheyenne, Wyo., for Daryl E. Eaton, 39, who died early Monday at his home north of Sturgis.
The body was cremated.
He was born Sept. 20, 1949, at Lander, Wyo., to Merle and Marian Eaton. He was raised in Riverton, Wyo., where he attended school. After he graduated from high school he served in the Army in Vietnam. He was discharged in 1971 and returned to Riverton. He also lived in Douglas and Cheyenne where he was a road construction worked.
He married Terry Crockford July 25, 1986, in Sturgis. They lived in Scottsbluff, Neb., and returned to Sturgis in July. He worked at J.V. Bailey Construction Co. of Rapid City.
Survivors include his wife of Sturgis; his parents of Cheyenne; three daughters, Michelle, Amy and Jennifer, all of Douglas; three sisters, Sharon Vigil of Lyman, Wyo., Mary Eaton of Ault, Colo., and Judy Mason of Pierce, Colo,; and three brothers, Dale of Moneta, Wyo., Richard of Green River, Wyo., and Alan of Riverton.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
F.O. Jolley Funeral Home of Sturgis is in charge of arrangements.
