9704 | Prominent County Dairy Farmer Dies G. Edgar Roderuck, Walkersville, Succums To Short Illness G. Edgar Roderuck, 59, well-known retired farmer of Walkersville, died Saturday afternoon at 1:15, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, where he was admitted Friday following a heart attack. Born in Frederick County he was the son of the late George T. and Fannie O. Lease Roderuck. He farmed in Glade Valley until eighteen months ago when he retired and moved to Walkersville. Mr. Roderuck was widely known for his outstanding herd of Holstein cattle which for a number of years won the state award for the highest production of butter-fat. He was a former president of the Frederick County Holstein Association and a member of the county D.H.I.A. for 25 years. He was also a member of the county Farm Bureau, served as a director for a number of years, and was a member of Glade Reformed Church, Walkersville. Surviving are his wife, Hazel Hedges Roderuck; four daughters, a son, a sister, Mrs. Elmer E. Thomas, Frederick and five grandchildren. The body is at the G. C. His death was attributed to a sunstroke which he suffered five days ago during the heat wave. Mr. Funk had been engaged in farming throughout his entire life. He was born July 2, 1880 in Chillicothe, Ohio, to William and Matilda WARD FUNK and came to Fulton county when still quite young. He was married to Lucille C. KING on Sept. 1, 1926. Survivors are his widow and the following children: Elma [FUNK], Rochester, James [FUNK] with the U.S. Air Force in Texas; Mrs. Isabelle KAMP, Rochester; Arthur, Martha, Robert, Matilda, Helen, Hugh, Judith [FUNK] all at home. 9710 | Published in The Rochester News-Sentinel Monday, March 25, 1929 Mrs. Etta FENSTERMAKER, aged 72, well known resident of Rochester, died early Sunday morning at the home of her son, Roy Fenstermaker, at 414 Pontiac Street. Death was due to heart trouble and complications from which she had been ill for a week. The deceased [Etta BRICKMAN] was born on December 20, 1856 in Mecklinburg, Germany, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis BRICKMAN. When only six months of age her parents came to the United States, settling in Hamilton County, Ohio. On March 12th, 1878 she was married to Lafayette FENSTERMAKER and came from Ohio to Fulton County residing on a farm 3 miles northeast of Rochester. After the death of her husband in 1912 she had lived with her son, Roy. Mrs. Fenstermaker was a member of the Evangelical Church. Surviving are two sons, Roy [FENSTERMAKER] and William [FENSTERMAKER] of Rochester; two daughters Mrs. George FUNK, of Rochester, and Mrs. Charles BOWMAN, of Elkhart; three brothers, William [BRICKMAN] and Frank BRICKMAN, of Finley, Ohio, Jonas BRICKMAN, of Springfield, Ohio. There are five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 at the Baptist Church with Rev. J. B. GLEASON officiating. DAULTON, 74, Lake Wawasee, Syracuse, formerly of Rochester, suffered a fatal heart attack at 3 p.m. Wednesday while driving on U.S. 6 about two miles north of Syracuse. His auto left the road, ran up an embankment and turned on its top. Mr. Daulton, who lived in Rochester and this vicinity from 1909 to 1931, had been in failing health for several years. He was born in Danville, Ill., on May 21, 1882, to Joe and Ada (HITCHCOCK) DAULTON. He was first married in 1902 in Rochester to Lucy SHAFFER, who preceded him in death. In 1944, he was married in Fort Wayne to Dora HELM, who also preceded him in death. Mr. Daulton was a retired farmer and car salesman and was a member of the Roman Catholic church in Fort Wayne. Surviving are five sons: Ben, Dale, Wayne and Glen [DAULTON], all of Rochester, and Joe [DAULTON], South Bend; two daughters, Mrs. Goldie SWAIN, South Bend and Mrs. Velma VIGUS, Gardena, Cal., three stepchildren; two sisters; Mrs. William FENSTERMAKER, Anderson, and Mrs. Bessie BROWN, Plymouth; a brother, William [DAULTON], Lancaster, Pa.; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Joseph Catholic church in Rochester with Father Claude W. REMAKALUS of St. Ann's church, Monterey, officiating. Mrs. Bowman was a member of the Pleasant Valley Evangelical church and the Rebekah Lodge, Elkhart. On Nov. 15, 1947, in South Bend, she married Glen E. Daulton. He preceded her in death May 28, 1980. Mrs. Daulton retired from Hart Schaffner & Marx in Rochester. Survivors include her two children, Christine and husband Butch Martin, South Bend, and Steve G. Daulton, Rochester. Her grandchildren, Heather B. and husband Adrian Velez, South Bend; Dawn L. Martin, South Bend; and Nicole C. Daulton, Dallas, Texas. And her great-grandchildren, Xiomara V. Velez and Tomas A. Velez, both of South Bend, and Gabriel Daulton, Dallas, Texas. 9715 | Published in The Rochester Sentinel Saturday, November 18, 1916 While at the dinner table Friday, Lafayette FENSTERMAKER, 63, a well known farmer living northeast of Rochester, suffered a stroke of paralysis which caused his death 12 hours later. Mr. Fenstermaker had been in the best of health and spent the morning shucking corn. After the attack, which was his second in 15 years, he was able to recognize members of the family for several hours and then gradually sank to death. Mr. Fenstermaker was born in Hancock Co., Ohio, Dec 27, 1852, and came here when about seven years old with his parents, George and Eliza FENSTERMAKER, who are both dead. Thirty-eight years ago, Mr. Fenstermaker went back to Ohio where he married Miss Etta BRICKMAN, returning to Fulton county to settle on a farm east of Rochester. They were the parents of five children, four of whom are living: Mrs. Viola FUNK of near Rochester, Mrs. Mada BOWMAN who lives northeast of Rochester, W. L. FENSTERMAKER of Kokomo and Roy FENSTERMAKER, who lives at home. He leaves one brother, Allen FENSTERMAKER of Hammond, Ind. The wife is living. During his residence here, Mr. Fenstermaker was closely identified with the Pleasant Valley church serving a number of years as trustee and for the last 12 years as janitor. DAULTON, 65, of 1005 Jackson Blvd., Rochester, passed away at 5:20 p.m. Wednesday at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. Born on April 29, 1939, in Rochester, he was the son of Ben and Edna Nichols Daulton. He was a 1957 graduate of Rochester High School where he participated on the basketball, football and track teams. Mr. Daulton was the owner/operator of Phil Daulton Liquors since 1993. He was a member of Rochester Elks Lodge, Eagles Lodge, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, and Walnut Church of the Brethren, Argos. He was a former Little League baseball coach, a commentator on the Wednesday Morning Sports Talk show on radio station WROI-Rochester, an avid golfer, an Indiana University fan, and a Notre Dame football fan. He enjoyed hunting, playing cards, and his black labrador Gus. He was also a dedicated supporter of numerous local charities. Survivors include his daughters, C'Dale Daulton, Rochester, Amy Daulton, Florida; one son, Benjamin and wife Sarah Daulton, Rochester; seven grandchildren, Ben, Sarah, Zackery, MacKenzie, Griffin, Jessica and Wilson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, David O. Daulton; and one grandson. His funeral service is 2 p.m. Sunday at Zimmerman Bros. Born Jan. 19, 1925, in Quinwood, he was a son of the late James Preston and Edna Lea Hedges McClung. Mr. McClung was a member of John Page VFW Post No. 4484, Rainelle, the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and National Rifle Association. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from which he received a Purple Heart and two Oak Leaf Clusters. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Quinwood, and had been a barber for 30 years. He was preceded in death by a stepson, Jerry Dean Billings; three sisters, Nellie Jennings, Maude Keaveny and Elizabeth Meadows; and a brother, Ralph McClung. 9730 | R.C. Bagley Passed Away In Kirksville Roy Curtis Bagley was born at Purdin, Misouri, April 22, 1895, the eldest of eight children born to the late Charles S. and Anna Hedges Bagley. His mother survives him. He passed away at a Hospital in Kirksville, Missouri, November 14, 1957 at the age of 62 years, 6 months and 23 days. “Curt” as he was known to all his friends, was reared on a farm northeast of Purdin, Missouri, in which community he spent his entire life. He was united in marriage on May 19, 1918 to Edna Ann Foster. To this union four children were born: Margaret McCollum, of Denver, Colo.; Charles, who preceded him in death; Clarice Ruppert, Nokomis, Ill, and Carolyn Helms, New Boston, Mo. In his early manhood he served his country in the U.S. Infantry during World War I, and worked at the Purdin Mercantile Co., prior to entering his lifetime occupation as a farmer. He leaves to mourn his passing, his beloved wife of the home; his mother at Purdin, Mo.; three daughters and their husbands, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde McCollum, Denver, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Milton Ruppert, Nokomis, Ill; Mr. and Mrs. Curt Helms, New Boston, Mo.; ten grandchildren, Rozanne, Karen, Lois, Clidena, Evan and Joyce McCollum; Allen, Phyllis and Jimmie Ruppert, and Max Helms. One sister, Mrs. Opal Buckman, Linneus, Mo.; five brothers: Raymond, of Meadville; Chester and Leslie, of Kirksville; Alva, of Shelbina, and Wayne, of Nokomis, Ill; a great number of nephews and nieces and a host of other relatives and friends. He was affiliated with the Church of Christ in Purdin, Mo., in August 1919, and was baptized by J.C. Roady, a well known evangelistic minister of faith. Curt remained faithful to his church and served in numerous capacities, for the eight or nine years as one of its Elders. Funeral services were held Sunday, November 17, 1957, at 2 p.m., conducted by Evangelist James Burgess of Kansas City, at the Church of Christ in Purdin. Song service was by James Calhoun, Rev. and Mrs. Al Mitchener and Mrs. J.W. Grice, who sang, God Will Wipe Away All Tears, and God Will Take Care of You. Flower girls were nieces, Marilea Johnston, Phyllis, Richards, Nellie Harris, Bertie Schweizer, Susan, Janet, Carolyn Ann and Kathryn Bagley, Patty and Marcia Foster, Annette Myers and Lorraine Smith. He is Robert Lee Beagles, 77, who died at his home at 440 Tenth street after a two-year illness. A native of Napa, Mr. Beagles had reside in Sonoma county for 27 years, where his agricultural activities included work with the state prorate board, federal farm labor office, and U.S. Department of Agriculture. Until his retirement because of ill health four years ago, Mr. Beagles was field representative for the local farm labor office. For 16 year he headed the plant introduction garden program for the department of agriculture at Chico. Services will be held from the Eggen and Porter Funeral Home at 3 p.m., with Rev. A.W. Cassity, son of William and Louise Cassity, was born near Purdin, Missouri, December 19, 1868, and departed this life from his home in Purdin, January 25, 1942. Age 73 years, 1 month and 6 days. On May 12, 1891, he was united in marriage to Miss Ora Karr. To this happy union three children were born: Cecil of Kansas City, Missouri; W.P., of Milan, Missouri; and Carl t., of Purdin, Missouri. Besides his companion of more than a half century and their three sons, Mr. Cassity is survived by a brother, James A. Cassity of Mexico, Missouri; and four sisters, Mrs. Mattie Garrett, of Browning, Missouri; Mrs. Effie Pulliam, Mrs. Alfa Cassity and Mrs. Elva Pearson, all of Purdin, Missouri; several grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Stone, of Browning, Missouri and Mrs. Adell McIntyre, of Linneus, Missouri, preceded him in death. For a number of years Mr. Cassity was in ill health, but bore his afflictions with Christian courage and fortitude. In early life he was united with the Methodist in Purdin. Death found him ready for the passage, his face toward the sunset of life but the sunrise of the life beyond. Mr. Cassity was well known as a business man, who served his town and community for many years as an industrious and generous helper. Funeral services were conducted at the family home at 11 o’clock, Tuesday morning, January 27, by the Rev. E.M. When he was confined to his bed it was thought that he might be able to recover, but for the past few days his condition grew worse and worse until the end finally came. The deceased is survived by three daughters and four sons: Mrs. Finch, of Middlesex; Miss Nanie and Meta Liles, of Tarboro; Frank Liles, of Kinston; J.F. Liles, of Tarboro; Paul Liles, of Birmingham, and Vance Liles of Tarboro. The funeral service was conducted at the home this afternoon at 3 o'clock by Rev. L.C. 9745 | Ralph G. Wright, Jr., 86, of Atchison, KS, died Saturday, June 19, 2010 at the Atchison Hospital. Ralph was born on April 26, 1924 in St. Joseph, MO, the son of Ralph W. and Marguerite (Donnelly) Wright. He attended grade school in Pardee, Kansas and graduated in 1942 from Atchison County Community High School, Effingham, KS. Ralph worked as a machinist for the former L.F.M, Steel Foundry, Atchison, then for Trans World Airlines. After his retirement he did maintenance for the UMB Bank, Atchison, and then worked for Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Ralph was a member of the Knights of Columbus, was a Past Master of Masonic Lodge #238, Rushville, MO, and a member of the Atchison Masonic Lodge. He received his airplane pilot's license in 1998 at the age of 74. He would hardly stay out of the air. Ralph was always tinkering with something and enjoyed yard work and greeting people at the funeral home. He was married to Bernice Van Horn. She preceded him in death on December 25, 1986. Also preceding him in death are his parents, a son; Ralph G. Wright, III (1985), and two daughters; Jean Wright and Sherry Montgomery(2003). He later married Ruthann Meyer on November 26, 1990 at the Atchison United Methodist Church. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include; a son-in-law, Larry Montgomery, Cummings, KS, six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren. 9747 | Ralph H. Goins Ralph H. Goins, 70, Purdin, Mo., died yesterday at Independence hospital. He was a life-long resident. Mr. Goins was a retired road construction crewman. Surviving are two sons, Harold Ray Goins, Tempe, Ariz., and Gerald Lee Goins, Denver; a daughter, Eva Frances Quinn, Pomona, Calif.; two brothers, Charles M. Goins, Lemons, Mo., and Robert Goins, Los Angeles; two sisters, Miss Ruth Goins and Mrs. Daisy Allsworth, both of 10712 East Twenty-fourth, Independence, and six grandchildren. 9748 | Ralph J. Hedges Sidell – Ralph J. Hedges, 75, died at 5 p.m. Sunday (June 22, 1969) at his home in Sidell. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Honnold and Son Funeral Home in Sidell with Rev. S.M. Read officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Indianola. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Hedges was born May 27, 1894 in Fairmount, son of George F. and Cora Gritton Hedges. He married Eva Robinson Sept. 23, 1916 in Danville. He was a member of the Chrisman Christian Church. He is survived by his wife; one son, Donald R. Lincoln, is survived by children, Beula Jean Olson, Erma Hassen, Dorothy Davis, Duane and Donald; stepson, Basil Moore; a sister; four brothers; 17 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. 9750 | Ralph M. Klotz Matawan - Funeral services for Ralph Marvin Klotz, in Malawan, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, at Peace United Church of Christ in Minnesota Lake. The Rev. Dean Stille will officiate. Interment will be held at the Minneopa Cemetery in Mankato. Mr. Klotz died Saturday at New Richland Care Center. He was born Aug. 12, 1894, in Mead, Neb., to Joseph and Minnie (Williams) Klotz. He was in the livestock hauling business for many years and in later years he was interested in furniture restoration and antiques. He was a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Minnesota Lake. He married Catherine Ann Davis Dec. 3, 1914. She died in 1952. He married Lena Williams, Riverton, Wyo., July 19, 1958, in Albert Lea. She survives him. Other survivors are his son, Richard of LaCrescent; a daughter, Catherine Linnihan, Waseca; six grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Ann; his parents; a daughter, Doris Sorenson, and a great granddaughter.
