    • Obit printed in Champaign County Gazette, Wednesday January 6, 1892, p 5 was provided by the Homer Historical Society.

      Mr. John Cogswell died at his home north west of town on Wednesday of the grip, aged 39 years. He joined the Christian Church when 19 years old, and had ever since been a consistent member. The funeral services were held at the residence Friday, at 10 a.m., conducted by Rev. S. B. Jones of Champaign, and the remains were interred in the Old Homer Cemetery. The deceased leaves a wife and four children, all very sick with the same fatal malady.
