Funeral Services Sunday at Ford-Baier Home
James (Eph) Alsip, 82, of Loda died at 3:30 Tuesday afternoon, March 13, 1956 at the Norwich Memorial hospital in Norwich, N.Y., where he had been a patient for a month. Mr. Alsip was spending the winter months in the East and had expected to return to Loda sometime in February when he became ill.
The body was shipped from New York to the Ford-Baier funeral home in Paxton, where services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 18. Rev. Farris Roberts, pastor of the First Methodist church in Loda, officiated. Burial was in the Loda Pine Ridge cemetery with Masonic graveside rites.
Pallbearers were Robert Currie, Chester West, Fred Nordstrom, Ferd Marshall, Louis Caspers and Addison Goodell.
Mrs. Arthur Aikman, vocalist, was accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Russell Drechsler.
Burial was in Loda’s Pine Ridge cemetery.
Mr. Alsip was born May 24, 1873 near Odgen. Most of his life was spent at Loda where he farmed for a number of years. He was a member of A. Jonas Lodge #316 A.F.A.M. of Loda.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida. Surviving are four sons, Richard of Loda, Gene of Lohrville, Ia., Ralph of Middleburg, N.Y., and Orville of South New Berlin, N.Y. Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Celia Wellman of South New Berlin, N.Y., Mrs. Lois Bradley of Potomac and Mrs. Icephine Clem of Long Beach, Calif., and several grandchildren.
