Ralph Hedges Blaylock was born in Duck Hill, MS to Ben Hedges Blaylock and Minnie Myrtle (Brown) Blaylock. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of South Carolina at the age of 19 and served as a 1st Lieutenant in the USMC during the Korean War. Soon after, he took a job with International Harvester in Memphis as a manufacturing engineer. He married Alma Christene Costilow of Grenada on April 13, 1952. They have four children: Yvonne Richardson (Mike), Dan Blaylock (Karen), Lorene Ufferman (Doug), Patricia Langford (Ken); eight grandchildren: Yvette Jackson, Kristen Adams, Brandon Blaylock, James Michael Richardson, Courtney Bowen, Brett Blaylock, Jared Ufferman, Rachel Ufferman and a host of great-grandchildren. He was a devout Christian and dedicated his life to the ministry. He pastored the Somerville Church of God, the Church of God at Southaven and the Hernando Church of God. He was a church planter and was instrumental in the establishment of several churches in the north Mississippi area. He was a faithful man. He went home to be with the Lord on December 9, 2015. Visitation will be Saturday, December 12, 2015 from 12:30 p.m. until the service begins at 2 p.m. at Colonial Hills Church of God, 2432 Colonial Hills Drive, Southaven, MS.
