Second Tuesday and 8th day of June, 1784, Court met and present the Worshipfull:

Andrew Hedges is by this Court bound apprentice unto Frederick Birely for the term of four years to commence from the 30th day of March, last, the said Master is and doth hereby engage to learn and instruct said apprentice in the Art and Mystery of a currier and Tanner, and to send him Four months to the Nigh School, and to find and provide him with sufficient Meat drink cloathes and washing and Lodging during his apprenticeship and at the expiration thereof to give him Seven pounds and Ten Shillings current Money.

Oct. 26, 1788.
Frederick Birely appeared in obedience to citation, and hearing his defense and the charge made against him for abusing and beating his apprentice, Andrew Hedge, ordered that the said apprentice be and he is hereby discharged from the said master, it appearing that the said master beat and abused said apprentice in an unlawful manner.

Court met according to adjournment and present the worshipful:

William and Levy Hedge two of the Heirs and Representatives of William Hedge late of Frederick County, Dec., appeared and made choice of Andrew Hedge as their guardian and at the same time Andrew Hedge appeared and offered Peter Wolfe and William Hedge,
of Joseph, as his Security, who were approved and Accepted.
Transcribed by Mary Hedges Reiner. The foregoing entry is the last one I have found in court records until Andrew Hedges’ Will was probated, Feb. 10, 1812. He had meanwhile been married twice; 1st, to Christena Cramer, on April 30, 1791 (given as 1792 in the Frederick Md. Courthouse record and discussed later), and M. 2nd to Julianna Leatherman, on Jan 28, 1905, (also Courthouse record). The date of Christena (Cramer) Hedges’ death was Mar. 11, 1800 (Evan. Reformed Church Record, Frederick, Md.)
