Notes - The marriage of Amanda M. Cassity and William H. Beagles was celebrated in Missouri in 1860. Of this union the following children were born: William H., a furniture and carpet dealer in San Francisco; Lucy, wife of Henry Clark of Chico; Clara E., Mrs. W.A. Wakerley, of San Francisco; Sarah Amanda and Emily Florence, both at home; Mary E., wife of Henry Wolf, of San Francisco ; Joyce A., at home; Robert L., of Chico; and Donald H., residing on the home place. Charles D. and Walter are deceased. The latter was a graduate of Stanford University and died in 1905. The children have been reared by their mother and all have become useful in their various locations in business and society.
[4] - R.L. Beagles Dies After Long Illness
Funeral services will be held tomorrow for a leading Sonoma county agriculturalist and former superintendent of the Wikiup ranch who died Saturday afternoon after a long illness.
He is Robert Lee Beagles, 77, who died at his home at 440 Tenth street after a two-year illness. A native of Napa, Mr. Beagles had reside in Sonoma county for 27 years, where his agricultural activities included work with the state prorate board, federal farm labor office, and U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Until his retirement because of ill health four years ago, Mr. Beagles was field representative for the local farm labor office. For 16 year he headed the plant introduction garden program for the department of agriculture at Chico.
Services will be held from the Eggen and Porter Funeral Home at 3 p.m., with Rev. A.W. Farlander officiating. A mausoleum entombment will follow at the Chapel of the Chimes. A member of Rosewood Camp No.93, Woodmen of the World, Mr. Beagles is survived by his widow, Hettie Beagles. He was the father of Alethea Read and grandfather of Barbara Lee read, also of Santa Rosa; brother of Donald Beagles and Mrs. Joyce Shaner, Napa, and Miss Amanda Beagles and Mrs. May Baker, San Francisco; and the uncle of Mrs. Ed Rowen, Williams; and Beverly Clark and Chester Beagles, San Francisco.
