Notes - Benjamin F. DeWitt
Benjamin F. DeWitt, 86 years old, died at the home of his son, Newton, DeWitt, 119 East Walnut street, at 12:30 o’clock Thursday morning. He had been bedfast for the past year.
Mr. DeWitt was born near Beaman, Mo., October 4, 1863, the son of the late Benjamin and Pernelia Potter DeWitt. He has lived all his life in Pettis county, residing on a farm until 1919, when he came to Sedalia to make his home.
Mr. DeWitt was married in August, 1899, to Miss Delia Fay Ross. Five children were born to this union, tow of whom, Frank DeWitt and John DeWitt, died in infancy.
Mrs. DeWitt preceded him in death in March 1912.
Surviving are two sons, Newton DeWitt and Lee DeWitt, Sedalia; one daughter, Mrs. Paul W. Bennett, Vandalia, Mo.; one sister, Mrs. Cevia McMullin, Beaman, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at the Lamine Baptist church at 2:30 o’clock Friday afternoon.
Rev. Walter P. Arnold, pastor of the East Sedalia Baptist church will officiate.
Interment will be in the DeWitt family lot in Potter’s cemetery near Clifton City.
The body is at the Ewing funeral home.
