Herbert was born in Corbin, Kentucky. He was the former co-owner of Eaton and Gibbs Market on Fifth Street in Corbin. Herbert was a well-known and well-loved man in the community. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of Poplar Grove Baptist Church. Herbert lived 96 years, 5 months, and 4 days, departing this life on Christmas Day.
