Notes - Minerva Cassity, daughter of Armstrong and Ruth Anne Cassity, was born in Bath county, Kentucky, Mar. 13, 1842. She came with her parents to Linn county, Mo., in 1851, being one of the early pioneer families of Linn County.
She was united in marriage to William M. Hawkins March 2, 1965. To this union four children were born, viz: Walter, Albert, America and Amota. Walter and America died in early childhood. She leaves to mourn her passing one son, Albert A. of Purdin, Mo., and one daughter, Mrs. Geo. Walker of Cora, Mo.; two granddaughters, Mrs. Luther DeVore and Miss Wilma Hawkins; two great grandchildren, Vera and Vernon DeVore; two sisters Mrs. American Moore and Mrs. Amanda Smith.
Since the death of her husband July 4, 1918, she has made her home with her daughter, where she died Oct. 24, 1924. She was 82 years, 7 months and 11 days old.
She united with the Christian church in her girlhood days and remained a loyal and devoted member until her death. Funeral services were conducted at the Mt. Zion church by Rev. Underwood Saturday, Oct. 25, after which the body was laid to rest in the beautiful cemetery near by to await the resurrection morn.
Mother is gone but not forgotten,
Never will her memory fade:
Sweetest thoughts will ever linger
Around the grave where she is laid.
