- Betty June Hedges
Lander – Services for Betty June Hedges, 67, of Lander will be conducted Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Chapel of Mount Hope by Pastor Dan Brassman. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Hedges died April 13, 1990, at the Lander Valley Medical Center. She was born Aug. 20, 1922, in Lander, the daughter of Earl and Florence (Thomas) Avery.
On April 26, 1947, she married Russell Hedges at Riverton.
Mrs. Hedges was a certified welder at the shipyards in Sausalito, Calif., during World War II. She also was employed as a Mountain Bell telephone operator for three years, and for 27 years worked at the Wyoming State Training School.
Survivors include two daughters, Lajuana Eckard of Lander and Sharon Cooper of Riverton; two brothers, Tom Avery of Kinnear and Henry Laird Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Evelyn Wilt and Madge Gavin, both of Lander; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials to the Central Wyoming Cancer Treatment Center and Hospice Program, a division of Blue Envelope Health Fund in Casper, would be appreciated by the family.
Hudsons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
