Edward M. Pulliam, son of Thomas and Anna (Cassity) Pulliam, was born in Linn County, Missouri, October 31, 1871, and departed this life December 20, 1949, after spending the greater part of his life in the vicinity of Purdin.
His passing came suddenly while visiting his niece, Mrs. Eva Helms, at Chillicothe, Missouri.
Due to failing health, he spent the greater part of the past year with his daughter and family in Erie, Pennsylvania. He returned to Missouri less than a month ago.
He leaves to mourn his passing, a daughter, Mrs. Gilbert H. Kroeger, a grandson Gilbert Edward Kroeger, a nephew, Karl Albert Falch, reared from infancy, two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Bivens and Mrs. Etta Cady, and one brother, Charley Pulliam, and several nieces and nephews. A brother, William Pulliam, preceded him by death two years.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Purdin at two o'clock, December 22, 1949, with Rev. W.A. Pollock, officiating. The song services were by Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson, Mrs. Helen Cokerham, W.W. Western and Mr. Lyons. Pall bearers were Mack Molloy, Joe Eden, Robert Hoover, Oscar Thorne, Floyd Hardin and Mark Gooch. Interment was made in the Purdin cemetery under the direction of the Wade Funeral Home.
