- Mrs. E.T. Helms
Mrs. E.T. Helms, wife of Dr. Helms, died at her home, 312 Eleventh avenue east, Saturday, after an illness of some duration. Born Mary J. Hawkins, Aug. 20, 1882, at Hillsboro, Kentucky, she came to Eugene in 1925.
At the age of three, she moved with her parents to Linneus, Mo., where she grew to womanhood. She was married to Dr. E.T. Helms, May 22, 1901. Dr. and Mrs. Helms spent five years in Boise, Idaho, before moving to Portland in 1913. They moved to Hillsboro in 1915 and came here from there.
Mrs. Helms was a member of the Christian church, Order of Eastern Star. She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Ruth E. Jones, Astoria, and one brother, J.H. Hawkins, San Francisco. Funeral announcements will be made later from the Veatch chapel.
