- Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 8 from the Methodist church, Primghar, for McClellan (Mack) Taylor, who died January 6. Last rites were held at 2:00 p.m. and were conducted by Rev. Paul Clements, pastor. Pallbearers were Henry Schoening, Joe Dorschner, Will Kammerer, Gale Jone, Geo Brinkert and Geo. Irvine. Interment was in Pleasant View cemetery, Hartley.
McClellan (Mack) Taylor son of Mary Thacker Taylor and Marshall Taylor, was born Febr. 1, 1868 in Atchison county, Missouri. He passed away on January 6, 1955 at 5 40 p.m. at the age of 86 years, 11 months and six days. He was united in holy wedlock to Nancy Ann Williams on Nov. 23, 1890. They started the venture of married life on a farm near Rockport, Mo. They lived in Missouri until 1900 when they came to Iowa in a covered wagon. They farmed in various Iowa communities but mostly in O'Brien county. In 1933 they retired from the farm and moved to Primghar where they lived at the time of Mr. Taylor's passing.
To this union were born 13 children, four of whom preceded their father in death. Children Alice, Henry and Clara died in infancy, daughter Mina, Mrs. Harry Clifton passed away at the age o f 39.
Mr. Taylor was always a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by all.
Those left to mourn his death are his wife, Nancy Ann and nine children. The four sons are Orval of Hartley, Herman of Arnolds Park, Claude of Mound, Minn., and Herschel of Eldorado, Kans. His five surviving daughters, Mrs. Cleta Clinton of Reseda, Calif., Mrs. Esther Powell of Primghar, Leola, Mrs. Albert Stoterau of Hartley, Marie, Mrs. Murvin Hopkins, Sanborn and Gretchen, Mrs Raymond Hochhaus of Edgewood, Ia. Besides members of the immediate family there are 4? grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren.
