- Zora Lee "Zeke" Hyatt, age 78, of Meadowlands Drive, Morehead, Kentucky, formerly of Taylor, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at his home.
He was born March 6, 1934, in Rowan County, Kentucky, a son of the late William Everett Abbott Hyatt and Elizabeth Wallace Hyatt.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, John Hyatt, Dorcie Hyatt, and Ora Hyatt, and one sister, Ocie Baldridge.
Zeke retired after 35 years of service as a trackman for Conrail Railroad in Detroit, Michigan, and was an Honorable Kentucky Colonel. He enjoyed working outdoors in his garden and flowers, collecting knives, listening to Bluegrass music, playing cards and pool, watching old Westerns, traveling, and going to Kwik Stop to visit with his buddies. Zeke loved his family and spending time with them, especially pulling Jenna in her wagon and swinging with her.
He is survived by his wife, Lila Shaw Hyatt; two daughters, Carolyn Hyatt and Joanna Hunt and husband Tim, all of Morehead, Kentucky; and one granddaughter, Jenna Leigh Hunt.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Starcher officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Pallbearers: Jr. Baldridge, Freddy Baldridge, Rodney Wallace, Tony Wallace, Brian Wallace, and Doug Wallace. Honorary pallbearers: Roger Wallace, James Wallace, Clinton Wallace, Asa Lambert, and Clarence Jones.
