- Leslie J. Boyce
The messenger of death had again entered the home of one of our residents and this time removes a beloved husband, father and townsman. Leslie J. Boyce, one of the best farmers and citizens, passed away quite suddenly at his farm home on Great Brook at an early hour Tuesday morning.
The deceased was the son of the late Frank Boyce and wife and was born and had spent his entire life on the farm where he died. The father passed away about 16 years ago and the mother about 12 years ago; an only brother, Charles A. Boyce died two years ago last April. The deceased would have been 56 years of age had he lived another day, until the 12th of October. About seven years ago he married Miss Flora Anderson of this village, and unto them was born a little son, Arden, who with the wife, an uncle, Wm. Boyce and many other relatives survive the departed. The deceased was a quiet, unassuming man, an excellent farmer, hard working and exemplary citizen, honorable in every way. He was a charter member of Victor Lodge, 111, I.O.O.F., of this village.
The funeral was held from the late farm home on Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock, Rev. J.M. Coleman of the Methodist church, officiating; burial in Greenwood cemetery. Victor Lodge of Odd Fellows had charge of the burial service.
