Notes - John F. Hannah Dies; Rites Wednesday
John Francis Hannah, a retired farmer, died at 1 o’clock this morning at his home, 1604 Olive avenue. Mr. Hannah had been bedfast since March, 1943, when he suffered a stroke. He was 83 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at the First Christian church in Urbana.
Mr. Hannah was born April 28, 1861, in Fithian, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hannah, pioneers of Vermilion county. On Dec. 24, 1887, he married Miss Emma Jane Donaldson, a daughter of pioneer farmers of the community. Mr. and Mrs. Hannah moved to a farm near Fithian where they resided until 1910, when Mr. Hannah retired. They then moved to Urbana to make their home. In 1937, Mr. and Mrs. Hannah celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. She died April 1, 1942. Mr. Hannah came to Mattoon in September, 1944.
Mr. Hannah is survived by a son, Harry Ingalls Hannah, a Mattoon attorney; three grandchildren, Lieut. Norman B. Hannah of the navy, now on duty in the Pacific, Miss Marilyn Hannah, a student to the University of Illinois at Champaign, and David at home.
