Notes - Mrs. W.A. Creason, Pursin, Passed Away July 24th
Eddie Lavina Hedges Creason, daughter of James A. and Amanda Lucy Cox Hedges, was born February 7, 1892, in Vermilion, Illinois and passed away suddenly July 21, 1963, in the Sullivan County Memorial Hospital, Milan, Missouri, at 1:30 p.m. after an illness of many years at the age of 71 years, 5 months and 17 days.
She married W.A. Creason, September 11, 1912. Essie was one of eight children, five of whom passed away in infancy. She leaves to mourn her passing: her husband of the home, one sister: Maude Hedges Smith of Purdin, Mo., one brother, W.M. Hedges of Ottumwa, Iowa, a number of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was baptized in Christ and was a Church of Christ member since a young girl.
Essie, though she had no children of her own, was very much interested and helpful in the lives of her nieces and nephews. Her love and concern for two of her great nephews, Duane and Bob Oertwig, sons of her nieces Essie Maye, a name sake, was as of her own. Essie will be sadly missed by her family and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ in Purdin, Friday, July 26, 1963, conducted by Bro. Jack Ward of Gilman City. The song service was by Mrs. Ronald McDanald, Mr. and Mrs. Quinn Guyer and Kenneth. Casket bearers were great nephews. Interment was made in the Purdin cemetery under the direction of the Wade Funeral Home.
