    • Essie Holmes Moody, age 82, of Mesquite, TX, formerly of the Boaz community in Massac County, passed away at 5:20 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at the Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, TX.

      Essie was born November 28, 1932 in Olive Branch, IL, the daughter of Guy and Luta (Loven) Holmes. She moved to Muncie as a child and was a graduate of Muncie Central High School. She left a job she loved at Ball State University in 1981 to move to Texas to be near her children and later she retired from Bank of America.

      She is survived by her three children, Glenda Moore (husband, Sam) of Mesquite, TX, Tami Hobbs (husband, Rob) of Trinidad, TX, and David Moody (wife, Sharon) of Mesquite, TX; five grandchildren, three great-granddaughters; brother Ken Holmes (wife, Ann) of Springport, IN and several nieces.

      Essie was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Luta Loven Holmes; an infant brother; and a sister, Bonnie Brandon.

      Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Essie Moody will be at 10: 00 a.m. Friday, December 5, 2014 at the Anderson Cemetery in Boaz. Rev. Gerel Cain will be officiating. Friends and family are asked to meet at the Cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak has been entrusted with arrangements.
