      Della C. Buchanan, 75, of Arcanum, passed away the afternoon of Nov. 3, 2006, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton.
      She as born Oct. 10, 1931, in Harlan County, Ky., daughter of the late James A. and Mallie (Jackson) Cooper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, George O. Clifton in 1969; brothers Garrett “Red” Cooper and Phillip Tolliver; sisters, Vesta Carroll, Bessie Saylor, Inez Cooper and Sarah Cooper; and a granddaughter, Cassandra Clifton.
      A homemaker, Della had previously worked at Dottie’s Restaurant in Greenville.
      She is survived by her second husband, James F. Buchanan, whom she married April 8, 1977; sons, George and wife Kathy Clifton of New Madison; Ralph E. and wife Kimberly Clifton of Troy, and Randy D. and wife Deborah Clifton of Greenville; daughters, Mary Sue and husband Rod Brickler of New Madison, Janie Plummer of Greenville and Mallie J. and husband Darrell Theurer of Greenville; a stepson, James F. Buchanan Jr. of Wichita, Kan.; stepdaughters Debra J. (Buchanan) Hunt of Newberg, Ore., and Patrica A. and husband Tom Carr of Newberg, Ore.; 18 grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren, and a sister, Jeannette (Reeda) Gilbert) of Baxter, Ky.
      Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, Greenville, with the Rev. Eric Fee officiating. Burial will follow in Palestine Cemetery.
      Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to either the American Lung Association or to the American Heart Association. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.oliverfloyd.com.
