Notes - Bunice V. O'Neill, 99, of Kearney, MO, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at the Royal Health Care Center, Excelsior Springs, MO. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 28, at the Fry Chapel; burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kearney. Friends may call from 1-2 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Kearney United Methodist Church.
Mrs. O'Neill was born July 16, 1901 in Trimble, MO, the daughter of Jacob Edgar and Gertrude Hawkins Mathews. She was reared in Kearney and had lived there most of her life. She taught at Kearney and Windwood Elementary Schools in the 1920s. During WWII, Mrs. O'Neill worked at the Bendix Plant. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Clay County Chorus, the Rebekah's, and the Kearney United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ora O. O'Neill who died in 1985. She is survived by her brother, Orin Mathews, Kearney, MO, and several nephews and nieces. (Arrangements: Fry Funeral Home, Kearney, MO)
