- Vernon E. Prewitt
1934-2000
Chillicothe, Mo. – Vernon E. Prewitt, 65, Chillicothe, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at a Liberty, Mo., hospital.
Mr. Prewitt was a route sales representative for Colonial Baking Co., for 39 years. He moved to Chillicothe in 1968 from Brookfield, Mo.
Born on Feb. 2, 1934, in Linn County, Mo., he graduated from Laclede (Mo.) High School as the valedictorian.
Mr. Prewitt was a member of the United Methodist Church and Lewis and Clark Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution, both of Chillicothe.
On Nov.21, 1954, he married Betty Cassity in Brookfield. She survives of the home.
Mr. Prewitt was preceded in death by his parents, Paul E. and Irene.
Additional survivors: two sons, James V., The Woodlands, Texas and John E., Peoria, Ill.; two daughters, Sondra Skipper, Chillicothe, and Suzanne Greenwood, Columbia, Mo.; a brother, Paul D., Gladstone, Mo.; a sister, Carolyn Cassity, Independence, Mo.; and nine grandchildren.
Service: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, United Methodist Church, Chillicothe. Burial: Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe. Family visitation: 7 to 8 tonight, Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, where friends may call after noon today and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
