      Joseph M. Adams, Sr., 82, Versailles, husband of Catherine Gilkison Adams, died Wednesday, November 7, 2001 at the Samaritan Hospital, Lexington. Born in Woodford Co., September 15, 1918 he was the son of the late Matt L. and Callie Lathrem Adams. Mr. Adams was a cattle grader and buyer for fifty years at Bluegrass Stockyards and was a member of the Versailles Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was also a WWII veteran having served in the US Army Air Corps. Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Judy O. Adams, VA and Joan A. Drury, Hopkinsville; two sons, Jeremy A. “Jere” Adams and Jeff Adams, both of Versailles; four brothers, Theodore Adams, Lexington, Johnny Adams, OH, Matt Adams, Jr., Lexington, and ray Adams, MD; special aunt, Elizabeth White, Lawrenceburg; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Joseph M. Adams, Jr. and one brother, Frank Adams. Funeral services 2 p.m. Friday at Versailles Baptist Church with Revs. John Brandon and John Kruschwitz officiating. Burial in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Visitation 5-9 p.m. today at Duell-Clark Funeral Chapel, Versailles. Casketbearers will be Joseph M. Adams, III, William J. Hagan, Jeffrey E. Adams, II, Justin A. Adams, Gary A. Adams, Bobby Adams, Ricky Adams, and Edward Collins. Honorary casketbearers will be Herb Bruce, Howard Montague, Kenny Houston, Ken Holt, Lovell Hollar, Paul Saunders, Eric Barber, Gene Barber, Larry Barber, Jim Hembree, H.T. Reed, Aaron Beatty, Hunter Byrd Sr., Billy Wright, Jerry Mundy and Chester Wilson. Memorial are suggested to Versailler Baptist Church Bldg. fund.
