FLEMINGSBURG | Beloved husband, father and grandfather Artis Fields, 77, of Wallingford, went to be with his heavenly father Monday evening, Nov. 4, 2013, at UK medical center.
Mr. Fields was born to Fount and Minnie Bloomfield Fields on April 7, 1936, in Lewis County.
Artis was a lifelong tobacco farmer and dairyman. He was a faithful member of Pleasant Valley Church of Christ where he was treasurer for 33 years and also served as deacon. On March 31, 1997, Artis received a wonderful gift from an organ donor giving him a new heart and a second chance for life. Artis took this opportunity to be a walking testament of courage, faith in God and a true love of life for all that met him.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Maxine Mineer Fields; son, Brent (Cindy) Fields; daughter, Lisa (Randy) Stamm; and grandchildren, Kelly (David) Rouse, Clay Stamm, Brooke Fields, Madison Fields and Justin Fields.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Vicky Jo Fields; granddaughter, Lauren Paige Stamm; two sisters, Irene Highlander and Christine Barber; and also 11 half siblings.
Services will be at 11 a.m., Friday at Pleasant Valley Church of Christ with Bro. Hilary Underwood and Bro. Arnold Howell officiating.
Burial will follow in Martin Cemetery. Ricky Riley, Clay Stamm, David Rouse, Bill Fields, Jr. Fields, Reed Fields and Justin Fields will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m., Thursday at the church and after 8 a.m., Friday.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that you consider signing the organ donor registery or make a donation to the Kentucky Organ Donor Association.
