- Lester M. Lohman, 88, of Potter, KS. died Friday, Sept. 13, 2013 at his home after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Wednesday, Sept. 18th, 2013 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Potter, with Rev. Rick Twenhafel officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John's Cemetery, Potter, KS. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 Wednesday, at the St. John's Lutheran Church, Potter. The Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. John's Lutheran Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Lester was born on Dec. 11, 1924 in Potter, KS. the son of August M. and Flora E. (Winkler) Lohman. He graduated from Potter High School in 1942. Mr. Lohman was a farmer and lived his entire life in the home he was born in. He was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, Potter and served on the St. John's Cemetery Board for many years. Lester enjoyed shucking corn and was the 2003 National Corn Shucking Champion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to sales, and collecting antique glass wear, lamps and butter dishes.
He was married to Margie Meyer on Dec. 4th, 1960 in Atchison, KS. Mrs. Lohman survives of the home. Additional survivors include two daughters; Lisa (Randy) Gibson, Easton, KS., and Lauri (Chuck) Swinford, Easton, KS., two step daughters; Sharon Sawyer, Richardson, TX., and Vicki (Tom) Jacobitz, Stella, NE., a brother; August Lohman, Atchison, KS., twelve grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and sister-in law, Ruthie Wright, Atchison, KS. His parents, four brothers, and two sisters preceded him in death.
