- Edna Million Brooks passed away peacefully on the morning of June 1st, 2016 in Lexington, Kentucky at the age of 91. She had a long struggle with Alzheimer’s, but she remembered us all til the end. Edna is survived by her 2 daughters, Brenda Stamper (Gary), Joy Neal (Gayle). Her 3 grand-daughters, Tracey Richardson (Ernie), Ashley Stamper (Jason), and April Matonich (Todd) and 1 great-granddaughter, Abigayle Matonich. Her sisters, Beulah Kelly (Wayne) and Blanch Merryman. Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Brooks, Jr. (2009) and her parents, Ernest Morton and Ethel Gardner Million, also 3 brothers and 5 sisters. Edna was born on March 9, 1925 in Mount Carmel, KY (Fleming County) attended Woodford Co High School. She married Clayton Brooks, Jr. on November 6th, 1946 and later moved to Lexington, KY. Edna enjoyed spending time with all her family. Her and Clayton enjoyed Square dancing with the Kentucky Hoe-downers, and clogging where they taught classes for the Lexington Parks and Recreation group and even formed a clogging team called the Kentucky Belles where they traveled all over performing for many audiences. She enjoyed camping at the Kentucky Horse Park in the summers as well as other campgrounds across the state of Kentucky. Her and Clayton went on numerous Shockey Tours across the United States seeing many sights. They also spend their winter months in Ormond Beach, FL after Clayton retired. She enjoyed the beach and sunshine. Edna was a member of North View Baptist Church in Lexington, KY. Burial will be in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens, Jessamine County, Kentucky. [3, 4]
