- Ralph G. Wright, Jr., 86, of Atchison, KS, died Saturday, June 19, 2010 at the Atchison Hospital.
Ralph was born on April 26, 1924 in St. Joseph, MO, the son of Ralph W. and Marguerite (Donnelly) Wright.
He attended grade school in Pardee, Kansas and graduated in 1942 from Atchison County Community High School, Effingham, KS. Ralph worked as a machinist for the former L.F.M, Steel Foundry, Atchison, then for Trans World Airlines. After his retirement he did maintenance for the UMB Bank, Atchison, and then worked for Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Ralph was a member of the Knights of Columbus, was a Past Master of Masonic Lodge #238, Rushville, MO, and a member of the Atchison Masonic Lodge. He received his airplane pilot's license in 1998 at the age of 74. He would hardly stay out of the air. Ralph was always tinkering with something and enjoyed yard work and greeting people at the funeral home.
He was married to Bernice Van Horn. She preceded him in death on December 25, 1986. Also preceding him in death are his parents, a son; Ralph G. Wright, III (1985), and two daughters; Jean Wright and Sherry Montgomery(2003).
He later married Ruthann Meyer on November 26, 1990 at the Atchison United Methodist Church. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include; a son-in-law, Larry Montgomery, Cummings, KS, six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Lucas officiating. Burial will be in the Pardee Cemetery. A Masonic Lodge Service will be at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 22nd, with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home.
