- Carl Monroe
Carl Monroe, Brookfield, died Monday morning, March 26, at Brookfield Nursing Center. He was 82.
Services were held 2 p.m., Wednesday, Marsh 28, at the Purdin Methodist Church with the Rev. James Fulbright officiating. Burial was in the Purdin cemetery, under the direction of Bowden Rhodes Funeral Home.
The son of David and Mary L. (Buswell) Monroe, he was born May 2, 1901, in Shelby. On June 3, 1922, he was married to Alta Mae Bagley. She died in January 1977. Mr. Monroe was a member of the Grove Hill Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Sheriff and Mrs. Clifford Monroe, Brookfield; a daughter-in-law, Coleen Monroe, Purdin; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Elva Monroe, Erma and Ben Burkholder, and Etta and Herman Liebhart, all of Brookfield; three grandchildren, John David Monroe and Nancy Monroe, Purdin, and Brenda Brinkley and her husband Mike, Linneus; two great=grandchildren, Timmy and Tracie Brinkley, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sons, Von and Elgin Monroe and an infant son and two sister, Eva and Edna.
