- Car Injury Fatal to Woman
Mrs. Wilma (Billy) Emory, 52, of 138 Roswell Ave., died early Sunday of injuries suffered when the car when was driving was struck from behind by a truck. The accident occurred Saturday on the Ventura Freeway near Sherman Oaks.
Gordon Jones,48, of Van Nuys, an actor and a friend of the Emory family, was a passenger in the woman's car. He escaped with minor injuries. The truck driver, Milburn Durfey, was not hurt although his truck plunged 36 feet onto an underpass.
Jones said he and Mrs. Emory were driving to look at a home he had recently purchased at Reseda.
Mrs. Emory is survived by her husband, Gibson; her mother, Mrs. Pearl Mitchell, and sisters, Mrs. Jessie Wallow and Mrs. Verna Walls.
Service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Dilday Family Mortuary.
