Notes - JAMES TURLEY (David2, Jamesl) was born 6 December 1806 in Montgomery County, Kentucky, and died there 29 July 1882. He married Mahala Shultz about 1826. she was born 21 December 1809 and died 26 July 1891 in Montgomery County, Kentucky. Both are buried in the Turley Cemetery on the Martin farm in Montgomery County, Kentucky.
In 1829 James Turley was first taxed in Montgomery County, Kentucky. In that year he owned no land. By 1847 he owned sixty three acres in Montgomery County. In 1869 James Turley was executor of his mother's estate.
James Turley's will, written 14 May 1881, was proved 21 August 1882. In it he left his farm of eighty-eight acres on Slate Creek in trust to his wife, Mahala, during her life time and requested that his son, David L. Turley, remain on the farm to care for her. At the decease of Mahala Turley, the farm was to be sold and the proceeds divided among the children.
