When William Ribelin Turley was born on April 24, 1813, in Montgomery, Kentucky, his father, David, was 29 and his mother, Mary, was 28. He married Mary Hanna and they had seven children together. He then married Uraney and they had one daughter together. He died on September 22, 1877, in Logan, Illinois, at the age of 64.

- WILLIAM R. TURLEY was born about 1813 in Montgomery County, Kentucky. He died 23 September 1877 in Logan County, Illinois, and is buried in the Carlyle Cemetery. About 1836 he married Mary ___ She was born in 1814 in Kentucky and died 30 October 1853 in Logan County, Illinois. she is buried in the Carlyle Cemetery. On 11 November 1855 William R. Turley married his first cousin, Uraney, daughter of James and Elizabeth (Turley) Cheatham, in Montgomery County, Kentucky. She was born in 1820 in Montgomery County and married Boone Mitchell about 1845. Uraney Turley died 8 October 1876 in Logan County, Illinois, and is buried in the Carlyle Cemetery.
William R. Turley moved from Kentucky to Illinois in 1840 and settled at Lake Bank in Logan County. On 9 January 1858 "Uraney Turley" was listed as an heir of James Cheatham, deceased, on an affidavit sworn in Callaway County, Missouri. In 1860 Uraney's son by her first marriage, William B. Mitchell, age thirteen, was living with her and William R. Turley. A directory of Logan County, published in 1878 and after William R. Turley had died, listed him as a farmer in Elkhart Township on Section 22, a Democrat and a member of the Christian Church. in 1870 a Mary Turley, age seventeen, was listed in the census in the home of William R. Turley as a domestic servant. She may have been Mary Turley (George Washington, John, James) although she was also listed in the home of her father.
