Moweaqua, April 4
--Benjamin Franklin Ribelin, one of the oldest and most highly respected residents of Moweaqua, died at his home about 2 o'clock Monday afternoon. He was 83 years old in January. For the last three years he had been in failing health and last Friday suffered a second paralytic stroke. Mr. Ribelin came here from Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, in 1865. He was in the dry goods business on the north east corner of Main street for forty years and at the time of his death owned the building now occupied by the Ayars Brothers state bank.
He was twice married. He first married Miss Harriet Luck and two children were born to them. One of these, Fannie died at the age of three yeas. He later married Mrs. Addie Ayars, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by one son, Leslie, who with his wife came here from Salt Lake city nearly two years ago to care for him. Mrs. Essie Adams, Ralph and Mart Ayars are stepchildren to whom he was a father in their youth. Two grandchildren, Loraine and Frank Ribelin, a sister, Mrs. Margaret Evans and a brother, George Ribelin of Decatur also survive.
Mr. Ribelin was a member of the Methodist church and was one of the oldest Masons in Moweaqua having been a member for over 50 years.
