Notes - #54 Peter Hansson Steelman (Senamensing, Chester township, Burlington Co.): In 1693 the widow Ella Steelman, born in Sweden in 1634, resided with her three youngest sons, Peter (born in Senamensing c. 1674), Charles (1679) and Eric (1681). Soon after the 1693 census Peter Steelman married Gertrude, the daughter of Hans and Williamke Keen (see #95). By 1697 they had two children and resided at Great Egg Harbor (Atlandic City). Charles Steelman married (after 1697) Anna Nelson, daughter of Anthony Nilsson (see #63) and had three surviving children (Margaret, Eleanor and Charles) before his death in Senamensing in 1708. Eric Steelman married Brita (parents not identified) and moved to Gloucester County, where he died of smallpox 10 May 1731. Old Ella Steelman was buried 22 Jan. 1718 at Gloucester County. (43)

Peter Hansson Steelman (born ca 1667 at Grey's Ferry, died 1740, Gloucester County, New Jersey) married Gertrude Keen. Their children:
1. Charles Steelman (born ca 1697, died ca 1778) married (1st) Margaret Scull on January 5, 1731, and (2d) Mary Adams.
2. Matthias Steelman (born ca 1697, died ca 1784) married Sarah Adams on September 14, 1730.
3. Peter Steelman (died December, 1720).
4. Gertrude Steelman married Daniel Lake on September 14, 1730.
5. John Steelman (died after 1764).
6. George Steelman married Phebe Adams on December 12, 1737.
7. Maria Steelman (born January 5, 1720) married Elias Champion on December 15, 1735.
8. Peter Steelman II? (born ca 1722, died after 1764).

[3] - Peter Hansson Steelman, born c.1674, married Gertrude Keen, daughter of Hans Keen, c.1695. He, too, acquired lands in the Atlantic City area, where he died after 1737, survived by five sons and two known daughters.
