- JOHANNES WENDELL was born on 02 Feb 1649 in Beverwyck, New Netherlands. He died about 1691 in Albany, New York. He married (1) MAARITIE JILLYSSE MEYER. She was born about 21 Jan 1652 in New Amsterdam, New Netherlands. He married (2) ELISABETH STAATS.

- Johannes Wendel or Wendell, bapt. Feb. 2, 1649; m. *1) Maritie Meyer, bapt. Jan. 21, 1652, at New York, daughter of Jellis Pieterse Meyer and Elsje Hendricks; m. *2) Elizabeth stats, who was the daughter of Abraham Staats and Catrina Jachemse Wessel.
Johannes Wendell in 1682 was agent for Maryaland to receive the indemnity from the five nations of Indians for depredations they had committed in that province. He was a Justice of the Peace in 1684 and 1685. He was appointed ruling elder of the Dutch Church at Albany in 1685, and in 1690 was elected mayor of that city.
In his will he left 140 beavers to each of his two daughters by his first wife, and movables to them belonging to their mother's estate. To Abraham he gve his part of the land "Sarachtoge " (Saratoga); to Johannes his land called "Steenarabia" (Lansingburg), and the island called "Whale Island;" to Ephraim the land called "Klinkenbergh," and to his wife, his dwelling house in Albany. Besides the above mentioned property he also owned "a piece of land outside the stockade in Albany, on both sides of the Ruttenkill, south of the fort on the hill, bounded on the south side by the hill that the gallows stands on."
He died between Nov. 20, 1691, when he made his will and Feb. 20, 1692, when it was recorded.
He had 13 children: 7 sons and 6 daughters.
